  • Reds' Jonathan India: Back in action Tuesday

The Reds activated India (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list Tuesday. He'll start at second base and bat leadoff in the Reds' series opener against the Padres, according to Mark Sheldon of MLB.com.

Cincinnati optioned infielder Alejo Lopez to Triple-A Louisville to clear room on the 28-man active roster for India, who spent the minimum amount of time on the shelf with a strained right hamstring. After getting the green light to play Tuesday, India will slot back into his usual spot atop the order, resulting in Tyler Naquin sliding down to the two hole.

  • Jeff McNeil 2B | ATH

Mets' Jeff McNeil: Two doubles in Monday's win

McNeil went 2-for-4 with two doubles and a run scored in Monday's win over the Cardinals.

Getting the start at second base and hitting eighth, McNeil crossed the plate with the go-ahead run as part of the Mets' rally in the top of the ninth. The 30-year-old appears to have put his shaky 2021 performance behind him, slashing .316/.381/.474 through 16 games with one homer, one steal, seven RBI and 10 runs.

  • Rockies' Brendan Rodgers: Struggles continue

Rodgers went 0-for-2 with a walk in Monday's loss to the Phillies.

Rodgers was back in the lineup after being replaced by Alan Trejo for the last two games. The time off didn't make a tangible difference in his results however, as Rodgers is now hitless in his last 16 at-bats. If there is a positive angle to take, it's that Rodgers did not strike out, which marks only the third third time in 13 starts that he has not been punched out at least once this season. Trejo doesn't appear to be a long-term threat to Rodgers' playing time, though the eventual return of Garrett Hampson (hand) will put pressure on him to perform.

  • Bryson Stott 2B | PHI

Phillies' Bryson Stott: Optioned to Triple-A

Stott was optioned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Monday.

Stott earned an Opening Day roster spot following an impressive spring, but he failed to do enough to stick around. He hit .133/.161/.167 with a 32.3 percent strikeout rate in 31 trips to the plate and had fallen from favor to the point that he hadn't appeared in a game since last Tuesday. He'll get regular at-bats at the Triple-A level while awaiting his next chance in the majors, with Johan Camargo emerging as manager Joe Girardi's preferred utility infielder.

  • Cardinals' Brendan Donovan: Earns first career call-up

Donovan was called up for the first time by the Cardinals on Monday.

Donovan, a seventh-round pick in the 2018 draft, doesn't come with tons of prospect pedigree, but he's hit well throughout his minor-league career. In 242 games as a professional, he's hit .285/.386/.429 with 21 homers and 23 steals. He's started at every position except catcher and center field, making him a good candidate for a bench role. Lars Nootbaar was optioned to Triple-A Memphis to clear a roster spot.

  • Luis Guillorme 3B | HOU

Mets' Luis Guillorme: Scores twice Sunday

Guillorme went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored in Sunday's win over the Diamondbacks.

Getting the start at second base and hitting seventh, Guillorme found himself in the right place at the right time all day, crossing the plate on a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch in the seventh inning and an error by Arizona third baseman Sergio Alcantara in the eighth. Guillorme has started to see more action over the last week and has responded, going 5-for-11 with three walks and four runs scored over his last four starts, all of which have come at the keystone. With Robinson Cano struggling and Jeff McNeil splitting his time between second base and left field, Guillorme could accumulate enough plate appearances to have some value in NL-only and deep mixed formats, but his career .259/.356/.324 slash line in the majors highlights his limits as a hitter.

  • Ketel Marte 2B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Expands strike zone

Marte has a 32.2 chase percentage, up nearly five points over his career average, per Baseball Savant.

Marte was given a scheduled day off Sunday, which came at an opportune time for the struggling infielder. He entered the game batting .169 (10-for-59) with a 27.3 percent strikeout rate, well above his career norm. The issues at the plate may be impacting him in other areas. He muffed a couple of balls in the field Saturday -- not the first he's kicked this season -- and Marte is expanding the strike zone as seen by his chase rate. Arizona manager Torey Lovullo made note of Marte's issues but downplayed them to Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic. "I know it looks awkward and that it's a hotspot right now," Lovullo said. "But, for me, it's really not." Look for Marte back in the lineup Monday when the Diamondbacks begin a series at home against the Dodgers.

  • Bryson Stott 2B | PHI

Phillies' Bryson Stott: On bench for fifth straight

Stott remains out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Brewers, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

Stott will stay on the bench for the fifth game in a row and appears to be clearly behind Alec Bohm for playing time at third base. Even with Didi Gregorius (hand) sidelined for the fourth straight game, Stott hasn't been able to crack the lineup at shortstop either, as Johan Camargo has served as Gregorius' primary replacement. If Gregorius avoids the injury list and rejoins the lineup at some point during the upcoming week, the Phillies could send Stott back to Triple-A Lehigh Valley to pick up some consistent at-bats.

  • Jeff McNeil 2B | ATH

Mets' Jeff McNeil: On bench against southpaw

McNeil is not in the lineup for Sunday's game at Arizona, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

McNeil started the past three games and will head to the bench with lefty Madison Bumgarner on the mound for the Diamondbacks. The 30-year-old started against a southpaw Opening Day but hasn't been in the lineup versus a lefty since, though Sunday is only the fourth time all season the Mets have faced a left-handed starter.

  • Ketel Marte 2B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Receives first day off

Marte is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mets.

Marte started the first 15 games of the season but will take a seat Sunday with a .496 OPS and 27.3 percent strikeout rate through 66 plate appearances. Geraldo Perdomo will cover the keystone in his place for the series finale.
