Brice Turang 2B | MIL
Brewers' Brice Turang: Not in Wednesday's lineup
Turang is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's contest against the Astros.
Turang is out of the lineup for a second time during the three-game series. Brewers manager Pat Murphy indicated when Turang sat out Monday that the infielder was still regaining strength following an illness last week. It's possible that's still a factor in him not being in Wednesday's lineup, but southpaw Framber Valdez being on the bump for the Astros might be the main reason for the left-handed-hitting Turang's absence. Caleb Durbin is at second base Wednesday while Vinny Capra handles third base.

Nick Gonzales 2B | PIT
Pirates' Nick Gonzales: Progressing in rehab
Gonzales (ankle) ran on the field Monday and took batting practice Tuesday, Alex Stumpf of MLB.com reports.
Gonzales was finally able to take part in baseball activities this week after ditching the walking boot on his left foot this past weekend. The infielder is working his way back from a fractured ankle, an injury he initially suffered during spring training before aggravating the injury Opening Day. The Pirates haven't etched out a timeline for Gonzales' return from the 10-day injured list, but he's expected to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Indianapolis next Tuesday, per Noah Hiles of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Michael Helman 2B | TEX
Cardinals' Michael Helman: Sidelined at Triple-A
Triple-A Memphis placed Helman on its 7-day injured list April 22 due to an unspecified injury.
The 28-year-old utility player slashed .204/.283/.278 over 60 plate appearances with Memphis to begin the season before being shut down with the injury. Helman occupies a spot on the Cardinals' 40-man roster but didn't appear to be especially close to getting a look in the big leagues even before getting hurt.

Nolan Gorman 2B | STL
Cardinals' Nolan Gorman: Playing time starting to slip
Gorman is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Pirates.
Gorman is on the bench for a second straight game and the third time in the last four contests, with each absence coming against right-handed pitching. Alec Burleson -- who will start at designated hitter and will bat siixth Wednesday -- has been heating up at the plate of late and looks to have regained his standing over Gorman as the Cardinals' top DH option versus righties.

Garrett Hampson SS | CIN
Diamondbacks' Garrett Hampson: Starts in center field
Hampson started in center field and went 0-for-2 in Tuesday's 5-1 win over the Mets.
Hampson made a second consecutive start in center field in place of Alek Thomas against a left-hander. Thomas, who is routinely out of lineups against lefties, made a start against a southpaw last week, but that appears to have been a one-game event. Hampson is 0-for-3 with two walks and two runs scored in the two starts and is batting .167 overall through 17 games.

Padres' Jake Cronenworth: Homers in rehab game

Cronenworth began a rehab assignment May 3 and went 1-for-3 for San Diego's ACL affiliate. He joined El Paso for his second minor-league game Tuesday and slugged a two-run, 417-foot homer in his third at-bat. Acuna isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Diamondbacks, Tim Healey of The Boston Globe reports.

Tommy Edman 2B | LAD
Dodgers' Tommy Edman: Expected to return after weekend
Manager Dave Roberts said Edman (ankle) is unlikely to come off the injured list during the series in Arizona over the weekend, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Edman is set to do some running Tuesday while the Dodgers play in Miami. His ankle has not responded as quickly as the team initially anticipated, which resulted in Hyeseong Kim getting called up from Triple-A Oklahoma City. While it Edman is eligible to return Saturday from the 10-day injured list, he is now more likely to return May 13 versus the Athletics, as the Dodgers have an off day May 12.

Cardinals' Nolan Gorman: Grabbing seat Tuesday
Gorman is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Pirates.
It's the first time since April 16 that Gorman isn't in the lineup against a right-hander when that game wasn't part of a doubleheader. The Cardinals are using Willson Contreras at designated hitter and Alec Burleson at first base Tuesday.
