Jones isn't starting Wednesday's game against the Yankees, Nathan Ruiz of The Baltimore Sun reports.

  • Gleyber Torres 2B | DET

Yankees' Gleyber Torres: Swipes bag, commits error Tuesday

Torres went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in Tuesday's win over Baltimore. He also committed his 19th fielding error of the campaign.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone recently announced that Torres will be moving to second base for the remainder of the season due to his fielding problems at shortstop, but the change didn't seem to help matters Tuesday. Torres bobbled a grounder in the sixth inning that resulted in an error, though Baltimore didn't capitalize on the mistake. On the plus side, Torres also swiped his 13th bag of the campaign, which is one more than he stole in his first three seasons combined.

Merrifield went 3-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored in Tuesday's 10-7 win over Oakland.

Merrifield has recorded consecutive three-hit efforts, although all three knocks Tuesday were singles. The second baseman is batting a solid .283 through 13 games in September, right in line with his .280 average this season. He's added 10 home runs, 70 RBI, 88 runs scored and 40 stolen bases through 640 plate appearances overall.

Royals' Nicky Lopez: Reaches 20-steal mark

Lopez went 3-for-5 with an RBI, a stolen base and a run scored in Tuesday's 10-7 win over Oakland.

The infielder is on quite a hot run at the plate, going 20-for-45 (.444) during his current 10-game hitting streak. Lopez has put up eight multi-hit efforts in that span, lifting his season slash line to .303/.368/.380 in 488 plate appearances. He's added 20 stolen bases, two home runs, 39 RBI and 65 runs scored while recently solidifying his role in the No. 2 spot in the order.

  • Elvis Andrus 2B | ARI

Athletics' Elvis Andrus: Plates two runs

Andrus went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI in Tuesday's loss against Kansas City.

The veteran shortstop has hit safely in all but one of his last seven games, posting two multi-hit games in that span and recording an extra-base hit in three of his last four appearances. He has gone 10-for-35 (.286) in 11 games this month.

  • Brandon Lowe 2B | PIT

Rays' Brandon Lowe: Homers in return to lineup

Lowe went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's win over the Blue Jays.

The second baseman returned to the lineup after missing the last two contests with leg soreness and took reliever Tim Mayza deep in the eighth inning. Lowe has been red-hot in his last seven contests, batting .435 with three home runs and seven RBI.

  • Red Sox's Christian Arroyo: Rehab assignment nears

Arroyo (illness) is working out with Triple-A Worcester and is expected to begin a rehab assignment within the next couple days, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.

Arroyo has been sidelined since testing positive for COVID-19 in late August, but he was cleared to rejoin the team for workouts last week and is close to being activated. The 26-year-old is expected to fill a depth role upon his activation, which should occur after he appears in a few rehab games with Worcester.

  • Andres Gimenez SS | TOR

Indians' Andres Gimenez: Not in lineup for Game 2

Gimenez is not in the lineup for Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Twins.

The infielder went 0-for-2 in Game 1, lowering his batting average to .190 on the season. Owen Miller replaces him at second base and will bat seventh Tuesday night.

  • Luis Arraez 2B | SF

Twins' Luis Arraez: Not starting Game 2

Arraez is not starting Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader against Cleveland.

He went hitless across three at-bats during the matinee portion of the twin bill. Willians Astudillo draws the start at the hot corner for the nightcap.

  • Brandon Lowe 2B | PIT

Rays' Brandon Lowe: Returns after two-game absence

Lowe (leg) is back in the starting lineup Tuesday against Toronto, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Lowe missed the previous two contests with what manager Kevin Cash described as "beat up" legs. He appears to feel better Tuesday as he'll return to the keystone and bat leadoff against Jose Berrios.
