  • Blue Jays' Santiago Espinal: Gets breather Friday

Espinal isn't in the lineup Friday against Baltimore, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Espinal has gone 4-for-6 with two runs, an RBI and a walk over the last three games and will get a breather during Friday's series opener against the Orioles. Cavan Biggio will take over at the keystone and bat fifth.

  • Romy Gonzalez 2B | BOS

White Sox's Romy Gonzalez: Takes seat Friday

Gonzalez isn't starting Friday against the Tigers.

  • Jorge Polanco 1B | NYM

Twins' Jorge Polanco: Starting rehab Friday

Polanco (knee) will begin a rehab stint with Triple-A St. Paul on Friday, Brandon Warne of Access Twins reports.

It originally didn't seem like Polanco would need to play any games in the minors before returning, but that is exactly what he will be doing for the next couple days. The infielder's knee has kept him out of action since late August.

  • Owen Miller 2B | CHC

Guardians' Owen Miller: Riding pine Friday

Miller isn't in the lineup Friday against the Twins.

  • Elvis Andrus 2B | ARI

White Sox's Elvis Andrus: Goes deep again

Andrus went 1-for-5 with a solo home run Thursday against the Guardians.

He has now gone deep six times in his last 15 starts, also tallying 17 RBI and 13 runs scored in that span. Since joining the White Sox on Aug. 19, Andrus has hit .307 with 21 RBI, 16 runs scored and three stolen bases.

  • Luis Arraez 2B | SF

Twins' Luis Arraez: Not in Thursday's lineup

Arraez (hamstring) isn't starting Thursday against the Royals.

Arraez exited Wednesday's win over the Royals due to hamstring tightness, but he underwent an MRI that came back clean. He's considered day-to-day but will be out of the lineup for at least one matchup while Kyle Garlick serves as the designated hitter and bats leadoff Thursday.

  • Jose Altuve 2B | HOU

Astros' Jose Altuve: On bench Thursday

Athletics' Tony Kemp: Pops sixth homer

Kemp went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk in a win over the Rangers on Wednesday.

Kemp's sixth-inning blast plated Nick Allen and brought the A's within a run at the time. The 30-year-old has now gone deep in back-to-back games and is on a late-season tear that shows no sign of abating -- factoring in Wednesday's production, Kemp boasts a .328 average, .905 OPS, six extra-base hits (three doubles, one triple, two home runs) and 12 RBI across his last 16 games.

  • Romy Gonzalez 2B | BOS

White Sox's Romy Gonzalez: Gets day off

Gonzalez is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Guardians.

Gonzalez is hitting an even .300 on the season, but he went just 2-for-14 (.143) over his last four games, so acting manager Miguel Cairo decided to give him a mental break. Josh Harrison will man the keystone Thursday in Gonzalez's place.
