  • Jose Caballero 2B | NYY

Mariners' Jose Caballero: Sitting again Wednesday

Caballero is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Padres, Shannon Drayer of Seattle Sports 710 AM reports.

Caballero will sit to begin a second consecutive game, although he did come off the bench and draw a pair of walks in Tuesday's win over San Diego. Kolten Wong will hit ninth and handle second base in Caballero's absence.

  • Mauricio Dubon 2B | ATL

Astros' Mauricio Dubon: Pops second homer

Dubon went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 5-1 loss to the Blue Jays.

Getting the start at second base, Dubon led off the game by taking Kevin Gausman deep, but it was the only flicker of offense Houston could manage all night. With Jose Altuve (oblique) on the IL again, Dubon is back in an everyday role and has rapped out six hits while making four straight starts at the keystone, While his .294 batting average remains a plus, the 28-year-old doesn't offer much else from a fantasy perspective -- Tuesday's homer was just his second of the season and his first extra-base hit of any kind since May 22.

  • Jose Caballero 2B | NYY

    Mariners' Jose Caballero: Sitting Tuesday

Caballero isn't in the Mariners' lineup Tuesday against the Padres, Shannon Drayer of Seattle Sports 710 AM reports.

Caballero went 3-for-9 with two RBI and a run scored during Seattle's last series against Texas. He'll get a day off Tuesday while Kolten Wong takes over at second base and bats ninth.

  • Sam Haggerty LF | TEX

Mariners' Sam Haggerty: Optioned to Triple-A

Haggerty was optioned to Triple-A Tacoma on Tuesday.

Haggerty will head to Triple-A for the first time this season after he produced a .190 batting average with two doubles, two RBI, six runs scored and four stolen bases over 42 at-bats in 24 games with Seattle this season. Considering he struggled to find consistent playing time in the big-league lineup, the 29-year-old could certainly benefit from some extra reps with Tacoma. Haggerty can play every position besides catcher, so he has a strong chance to return to Seattle at some point this summer due to his positional flexibility.

  • Amed Rosario SS | NYY

Guardians' Amed Rosario: Remains sidelined Tuesday

Rosario (knee) isn't starting Tuesday against the Red Sox.

Rosario will now miss a second consecutive start following his removal from Saturday's game against the Twins due to left knee soreness. While Rosario continues to recover, Gabriel Arias will take his place at shortstop and bat second.

  • Jose Altuve 2B | HOU

Astros' Jose Altuve: Not starting Tuesday

Altuve (oblique) isn't starting Tuesday against the Blue Jays.

Astros manager Dusty Baker said Monday that Altuve isn't expected to return to the lineup until Wednesday, so it's not much of a surprise to see the star second baseman on the bench again Tuesday. While Altuve continues to heal, Mauricio Dubon will fill in at the keystone and lead off Houston's lineup.

  • Ernie Clement SS | TOR

Blue Jays' Ernie Clement: Optioned to Triple-A

Clement was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo on Tuesday.

Clement was up with the big club for a couple weeks but managed to accrue just six plate appearances, reaching base twice. He'll return to Buffalo and hope to get another call from the big club.

  • Blue Jays' Santiago Espinal: Activated from injured list

Espinal (hamstring) was activated from the 10-day injured list Tuesday.

Espinal has been sidelined since late May because of a right hamstring strain but got through a few rehab games with no problems. He will return to a utility infielder role with the Blue Jays.

  • Royals' Michael Massey: Sitting versus lefty

Massey isn't starting Tuesday against the Marlins.

The Marlins will send southpaw Jesus Luzardo on the mound to start Tuesday's game, meaning the lefty-hitting Massey will begin in Kansas City's dugout. Matt Duffy will take Massey's place at second base and bat eighth.

  • Red Sox's Christian Arroyo: Returns to action

Arroyo started at second base and went 1-for-2 with a double in Monday's 4-1 loss to the Rays.

Arroyo was back on the field for the first time since May 6. Back from his second hamstring injury of the season, Arroyo is expected to share second base duties with Enmanuel Valdez.
