Andres Gimenez 2B | TOR
Guardians' Andres Gimenez: Gets breather Wednesday
Gimenez is absent from the lineup Wednesday versus the Reds.
Tyler Freeman is covering second base and batting sixth. This looks to be a routine day off for Gimenez, who went 0-for-4 with a strikeout in Tuesday's series opener at Cincinnati. He's sitting on 11 homers and 20 steals through 115 games.

Luis Urias 2B | ATH
Red Sox's Luis Urias: On bench again Wednesday
Urias is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Nationals.
Pablo Reyes will make his third straight start at second base as Urias rides the pine for a second consecutive game. The 26-year-old has batted just .200/.286/.240 through 29 plate appearances with Boston and is being treated as more of a utilityman than a regular.

Jose Altuve 2B | HOU
Astros' Jose Altuve: Back at leadoff Wednesday
Altuve (knee) is in the lineup for Wednesday's game at Miami.
Altuve made an early exit from Tuesday's tilt after fouling a ball off his left leg, but he only suffered a mild contusion and is right back in there Wednesday versus the Marlins and left-hander Jesus Luzardo. He'll play second base and bat leadoff.

Josh Rojas 3B | CHW
Mariners' Josh Rojas: First homer of season in win
Rojas went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in an extra-inning win over the Royals on Tuesday.
Rojas' 380-foot shot to right field in the fourth inning with Jose Caballero aboard extended the Mariners' lead to 7-0 at the time and marked his first time leaving the yard all season. The 29-year-old is quickly putting a slow start to his Seattle tenure behind him, as he's now gone 6-for-14 with a double, Tuesday's homer, four RBI, a walk and six runs in his last five games.

Jose Caballero 2B | NYY
Mariners' Jose Caballero: Swats pair of doubles Tuesday
Caballero went 2-for-4 with an RBI double, another two-bagger, a stolen base and a run in an extra-inning win over the Royals on Tuesday.
Caballero made plenty of noise out of the No. 8 spot in the order, posting his first multi-hit effort since July 8. The 26-year-old had gone into the night with an abysmal .167 average and .381 OPS across his first 14 plate appearances (11 games) in August, and despite Tuesday's success, he remains ticketed for sporadic playing time at multiple infield spots.
-
Michael Massey 2B | KC
Royals' Michael Massey: Racks up three hits
Massey went 3-for-5 with two RBI in Tuesday's 10-8 extra-inning loss to the Mariners.
Massey played a key role in the Royals' ninth-inning comeback with a two-run single. The second baseman has put together a solid August, batting .294 with two home runs, three doubles and nine RBI over 14 contests this month. He's up to a .230/.282/.373 slash line with 10 homers, five stolen bases, 39 RBI and 26 runs scored through 93 contests. Massey continues to hold an edge over Samad Taylor and Matt Duffy for playing time at the keystone.

Edouard Julien 2B | COL
Twins' Edouard Julien: Back in action Wednesday
Julien (hamstring) will start at second base and bat leadoff in Wednesday's game against the Tigers.
Julien sat out Tuesday's 5-3 win due to the hamstring injury, but the day off was apparently all he needed to move past the issue. He'll settle back in as the Twins' table setter in the series finale after previously batting ninth in his most recent start Sunday against the Phillies.

Mauricio Dubon 2B | ATL
Astros' Mauricio Dubon: Could see increased playing time
Dubon went 1-for-4 with a run scored Tuesday against the Marlins.
Dubon entered the game in the first inning after Jose Altuve was forced to depart with a bruised knee. X-rays came back negative on the injury, though it's unclear if Altuve will miss any additional time moving forward. When Altuve has been sidelined previously this season, Dubon has stepped into the primary leadoff role, and if that remains the case, he'd be a strong source of potential runs and stolen bases.

Jose Altuve 2B | HOU
Astros' Jose Altuve: Dealing with bruised knee
Altuve left Tuesday's game against the Marlins due to a left knee contusion, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.
After fouling the first pitch of Tuesday's game off his left leg, Altuve remained in the game to finish his at-bat, logged an infield single and was replaced at second base by Mauricio Dubon. X-rays on Altuve's knee came back negative, and the 33-year-old second baseman should be considered day-to-day going forward.

Jose Altuve 2B | HOU
Astros' Jose Altuve: Exits game early
Altuve was removed from Tuesday's game against the Marlins with an apparent injury, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Altuve fouled a ball off his shin during the first inning but stayed in the game to finish his at-bat and legged out an infield single. Mauricio Dubon entered the game in the bottom of the first inning in Altuve's place at second base. The fact Altuve was able to complete his plate appearance is a good sign that his injury isn't serious, but the Astros should offer more details in the near future.
