Nicky Lopez 2B | TEX
White Sox's Nicky Lopez: Gets breather Wednesday
Lopez is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Twins.
Lopez's streak of six consecutive starts will come to an end Wednesday as White Sox manager Pedro Grifol gives the second baseman the afternoon off in a day game after a night game. Braden Shewmake will spell Lopez at the keystone, while designated hitter Robbie Grossman takes over as the White Sox's leadoff hitter.

Jorge Polanco DH | NYM
Mariners' Jorge Polanco: Leaves yard Tuesday
Polanco went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in Tuesday's 3-2 win over Atlanta.
Polanco opened up the scoring with a two-run shot to right off Reynaldo Lopez in the third inning. Polanco had not driven in any runs since he last homered back on April 15. He's now reached base in five straight games, though he has struck out seven times over his last 12 at-bats. It's been a very slow campaign at the dish so far for Polanco, who's now slashing .170/.314/.290 with four homers, 10 RBI, 11 runs and a 20:37 BB:K in 121 plate appearances.

Andres Gimenez SS | TOR
Guardians' Andres Gimenez: Pops first homer Tuesday
Gimenez went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run and an additional run scored in Tuesday's 10-9 extra-inning loss to the Astros.
Gimenez started the Guardians' comeback with a two-run blast in the sixth inning. The second baseman has logged three straight multi-hit efforts following a recent 0-for-11 skid. For the season, he's slashing .280/.347/.374 with one homer, 17 RBI, 17 runs scored, four stolen bases, five doubles and a triple over 122 plate appearances. He continues to see a starting role and frequently bats second in the lineup against right-handers.

Michael Massey 2B | KC
Royals' Michael Massey: Swats first homer of season
Massey went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Blue Jays.
Massey has hit safely in four straight games, going 4-for-14 with three RBI and three runs scored. The 26-year-old is seeing a majority of the playing time at second base since he returned from a back injury that shelved him for a month. Massey is batting .212 with one homer, five RBI, five runs scored and no stolen bases through 10 contests. Barring a deep slump, Massey should continue to play more frequently than Adam Frazier at second base, though Frazier has also gotten looks in the corner outfield spots and at designated hitter.

Luis Rengifo 3B | SD
Angels' Luis Rengifo: Goes yard again
Rengifo went 3-for-4 with a three-run home run and a stolen base during Tuesday's 7-5 loss to the Phillies.
Rengifo gave the Angels a lead in the sixth inning, tagging reliever Yunior Marte for a three-run shot to plate Taylor Ward and Brandon Drury. After going homerless in his first 22 games, Rengifo has clobbered long balls in two of his last three contests and has scored five times in his last five games.

Michael Stefanic 2B | ATH
Angels' Michael Stefanic: Moves to 60-day IL
The Angels transferred Stefanic (quadriceps) to the 60-day injured list Tuesday.
A quad strain has kept Stefanic on the injured list since the beginning of the season, and his move to the 60-day IL pushes his eligible return date back to May 27. He's been fielding grounders and taking batting practice and has recently resumed a running program, though it's unclear how far away he is from beginning a rehab assignment.

Buddy Kennedy 3B | SEA
Tigers' Buddy Kennedy: Optioned to Triple-A
The Tigers optioned Kennedy to Triple-A Toledo on Monday.
Kennedy is being sent out to make room for Andy Ibanez (hamstring), who will be activated from the injured list prior to Tuesday's doubleheader versus the Cardinals. He's 2-for-10 with one homer and one stolen base during his brief time with the big club this season.

Zack Gelof 3B | ATH
Athletics' Zack Gelof: Shut down from activity
Gelof (oblique) is currently shut down from baseball activity, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.
Gelof was placed on the 10-day injured list Thursday with a strained left oblique, but he appears to be on track to miss more than the minimum amount of days. The 24-year-old will likely need to ramp his activity over a series of days before he could ultimately be activated. In the meantime, Max Schuemann will likely continue to handle the lion's share of work at second base with Oakland in Gelof's absence.

Curtis Mead 3B | WAS
Rays' Curtis Mead: Hits bench Monday
Mead is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Brewers.
Mead had started at second or third base in each of the past 11 games, producing only two extra-base hits while getting on base at a .238 clip over that stretch. Though the 23-year-old remains one of the Rays' top prospects, he could be at risk of losing out on an everyday role once either Jonathan Aranda (finger) or Brandon Lowe (oblique) return from the 10-day injured list. In addition to Aranda and Lowe, Junior Caminero is back to full health at Triple-A Durham and has been sizzling at the plate of late, potentially making him a candidate to join the big club if the Rays want to swap out one infield prospect for another.
