Mets' Dominic Smith: Exits with apparent injury
Smith was removed from Saturday's matinee against the Cubs in the top of the 10th inning due to an apparent left ankle injury, Deesha Thosar of FoxSports.com reports.
Smith began the 10th inning as a runner at second base, but he appeared to roll his ankle while taking a lead off the bag and was removed from the game as a result. Prior to his departure, he went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts. It's not yet clear whether Smith will be available for Saturday's nightcap or for Sunday's series finale at Wrigley Field.

Jonathan Aranda 1B | TB
Rays' Jonathan Aranda: Sent down Saturday
Aranda was optioned to Triple-A Durham on Saturday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Aranda was called up by the Rays on July 10 and went 4-for-13 with a double, a run, an RBI and three strikeouts over five games during his stint with the major-league club. However, he'll head back to the minors after Brandon Lowe (back) was reinstated from the 60-day injured list Saturday. Aranda is expected to get playing time in the outfield in addition to his infield work with the Triple-A club.

Christian Walker 1B | HOU
Diamondbacks' Christian Walker: Could be trade target
The Diamondbacks are willing to discuss trades involving Walker leading up to the Aug. 2 deadline, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.
Walker rebounded from a down year in 2021 and is tied for ninth in MLB with 22 home runs -- he hit No. 22 on Friday. While his .206 batting average may not look appealing, the first baseman's expected average (.269 xBA) and on-base rate (.400 xwOBA, 17th in MLB) paint a different picture of his value. Teams more analytically inclined will see through the low batting average.

Christian Walker 1B | HOU
Diamondbacks' Christian Walker: Hits two-run blast
Walker went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Friday's 5-3 loss to the Padres.
Walker had gone 11 games without a long ball since his two-homer game versus the Rockies on July 2. Since that date, he's hit .179 (7-for-39) with only one multi-hit performance. The first baseman's downturn in power of late hurts his fantasy profile, as he doesn't often hit consistently. He's slashing .206/.319/.467 with 22 homers, 45 RBI, 44 runs scored, 12 doubles and a triple through 88 contests.
