Alonso went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in Friday's 13-4 win over Pittsburgh.

The first baseman went deep in the sixth inning to chase Pittsburgh starter JT Brubaker from the contest. Alonso seems to be gearing up for the Home Run Derby quite nicely with five long balls in his last 11 games. Through 297 plate appearances, he's posted 16 homers, 48 RBI, 37 runs scored, a stolen base and a .257/.337/.483 slash line as the Mets' main cleanup hitter.

Torkelson is hitting .273/.380/.591 with six homers, 13 RBI and an 11:15 BB:K across 19 games since his promotion to Double-A Erie.

After putting up a 1.009 OPS in High-A to open the campaign, the 2020 No. 1 overall pick got pushed up to Double-A, and if the higher level of competition has bothered him, it's tough to notice. In fact, he's already hit more homers in these 19 games with Erie than he did in 31 games with High-A West Michigan. The 21-year-old has played first and third base at both stops, and while Torkelson isn't known for his defense, the Tigers project to have openings at both positions next year. With his combination of high-end power and an excellent batting eye, Torkelson projects to be an All-Star bat at the major-league level, and it wouldn't be surprising if he makes a major impact as soon as he's called up next year.

Wade (hand) was removed from Friday's lineup against the Nationals, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Darin Ruf enters the lineup in the five-hole to replace Wade, who took some pregame swings but is being held out as a precaution. He suffered a left hand strain Wednesday, but he figures to be back in action in the near future.

Wade (hand) is batting leadoff and playing first base Friday against the Nationals, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Wade did not play Thursday after exiting Wednesday's contest with a left hand strain, but he appears to be healthy once again entering the weekend series against Washington. He has hit .233 with three home runs and six RBI in his last 30 at-bats dating back to June 26.

Manager Aaron Boone said Voit is not injured and is just getting a day off Friday, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

There was some speculation that Voit's hand, hit by a pitch Thursday, was the cause for his omission from Friday's lineup. That's not the case, though, and he figures to return to action Saturday.

Cron (head) is batting sixth and playing first base Friday against the Padres.

The first baseman cleared the concussion protocol Thursday after taking a pitch to the head, and is back in action to open the series in San Diego. Cron has hit just .221 off right-handed pitching this season, but Friday's opponent Reiss Knehr will be making his MLB debut.

Voit is not starting Friday's series opener against the Astros.

The first baseman took a pitch to the hand Thursday afternoon, but it's unclear whether that is the reason for his absence from Friday's lineup. Voit is hitting .333 in his last eight games, largely due to a five-hit showing Tuesday in Seattle. DJ LeMahieu is shifting to first base Friday, with Rougned Odor getting a start at second base.

Lowe is not starting Friday against Oakland and lefty Cole Irvin.

Lowe enters Friday on a four-game hitting streak, but he'll retreat to the bench with a southpaw on the mound for the Athletics. Andy Ibanez will man first base and bat second.

Diaz is not in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Blue Jays, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.

Diaz will sit for the second time in three games despite currently riding a 5-for-11 stretch at the plate. Ji-Man Choi and Wander Franco will start at first and third base, respectively.

Santana went 2-for-3 with a pair of solo home runs and a walk Thursday against Cleveland.

Santana went yard off starter Zach Plesac in the fourth inning, then he took Cleveland closer James Karinchak deep in the ninth to tie the game at 4-4. The homers were the 15th and 16th of the season for the veteran first baseman, owns an .893 OPS over his last 15 games. Santana has been a productive free-agent addition for the Royals, slashing .252/.373/.430 with 50 RBI and a team-leading 58 walks over 367 plate appearances.
