Giants' LaMonte Wade: On bench versus lefty
Wade is not in the Giants' lineup Tuesday against the Brewers.
Wade will get some rest Tuesday as the Brewers send lefty Jose Quintana to the mound. The first baseman started off the series against the Brewers on Monday going 1-for-3 with a walk. With the 31-year-old on the bench, David Villar has the start at first base and is batting seventh.

Bryce Eldridge 1B | SF
Giants' Bryce Eldridge: Ready for season debut
Eldridge (wrist) has been activated from the 7-day injured list at Double-A Richmond, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Eldridge is ready to make his season debut after recovering from a left wrist injury suffered early on in spring training. The top prospect finished the 2024 campaign at Richmond, slashing .292/.374/.516 with 23 home runs across four minor-league stops. He could move up to Triple-A Sacramento relatively quickly if he's healthy and productive.

Luis Arraez 2B | SF
Padres' Luis Arraez: Lands on concussion IL
The Padres placed Arraez (concussion) on the 7-day injured list prior to Monday's 6-4 loss to the Tigers.
San Diego called up infielder Mason McCoy from Triple-A El Paso to fill the open spot on the 26-man active roster, but Gavin Sheets ended up picking up the start at first base in Arraez's stead Monday, while Oscar Gonzalez served as the Padres' designated hitter. Arraez experienced concussion symptoms after he collided with the Astros' Mauricio Dubon in the first inning of Sunday's 3-2 win over Houston, resulting in the 28-year-old being carted off the field and taken to a hospital. Arraez has since relayed that he's feeling well, but he'll be out for at least this week while he recovers from the concussion.

Willson Contreras C | BOS
Cardinals' Willson Contreras: Launches long ball in loss
Contreras went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run in Monday's loss to Atlanta.
Contreras tried to bring St. Louis back with a two-run shot off Raisel Iglesias in the ninth inning that brought his team within a run, but the comeback attempt ultimately fell short. The long ball was only the second of 2025 for Contreras, who belted 15 homers in just 358 plate appearances last season. The catcher-turned-first-baseman is slashing a paltry .182/.234/.295 on the campaign, but he's been bringing that mark up of late, going 6-for-16 over his past four games.

Casey Schmitt SS | SF
Giants' Casey Schmitt: Expected to miss one month
Schmitt has been diagnosed with a Grade 2 oblique strain and is expected to miss one month, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Schmitt was officially placed on the 10-day injured list Saturday, though the extent of the injury wasn't truly known until Monday when he underwent an MRI. This news confirms that he'll miss more than the 10-day minimum and is looking at a potential return in mid-to-late May.

Luis Arraez 2B | SF
Padres' Luis Arraez: Set for stint on 7-day IL
Arraez (concussion) is expected to be placed on the 7-day injured list prior to Monday's game against the Tigers, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Arraez is dealing with concussion symptoms after colliding with the Astros' Mauricio Dubon on Sunday. The infielder was taken off the field on a stretcher following the concussion and was sent to a local hospital for further evaluation. He's since posted on social media that he's feeling fine physically, but Arraez will be out for at least one week while he waits for his concussion symptoms to subside. Connor Joe, Yuli Gurriel and Gavin Sheets will be the main candidates to see playing time at first base in Arraez's absence.

Spencer Horwitz 1B | PIT
Pirates' Spencer Horwitz: Ready for extended spring training
Horwitz (wrist) has been cleared for baseball activity and will participate in extended spring training, MLB.com reports.
This marks a significant step in Horwitz's recovery, though he'll still likely need plenty of ramp-up time after missing all of spring training. He should take over as Pittsburgh's primary first baseman once activated from the injured list.

Enmanuel Valdez 2B | PIT
Pirates' Enmanuel Valdez: Appears as pinch hitter
Valdez (shoulder) went 0-for-2 with a walk and a run scored Sunday against the Guardians.
Valdez was out of the starting lineup after suffering a minor shoulder injury Saturday, though he managed to enter the game as a pinch hitter in the sixth inning. That suggests Valdez should avoid a stint on the injured list, but his status will likely remain unclear until the Pirates retake the field Tuesday.
