Tellez isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Cardinals.

Tellez has started against just two left-handers this season, and he'll take a seat with southpaw Jon Lester starting for the Cardinals on Thursday. Eduardo Escobar will shift to first base while Luis Urias starts at the hot corner.

Goldschmidt went 2-for-5 with a pair of doubles, an RBI and a run Wednesday in the Cardinals' 6-4 loss to the Brewers in 10 innings.

Goldschmidt's first double of the night scored Tommy Edman and gave the Cardinals an early 3-0 lead, but Milwaukee clawed back from the early deficit to send the game to extras before prevailing in the 10th. Though Goldschmidt has now churned out three two-hit games in a row and is batting .345 in August, he's left the yard just one time this month and is on pace for his lowest home-run total in a full season since 2016 (24).

Walker went 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, an RBI and a run Wednesday in the Diamondbacks' 4-2 win over the Phillies.

Walker's hold on the top job at first base appeared to be slipping after he was on the bench for the final two games of the weekend series in San Diego, but he's seemingly solidified his place atop the depth chart this week. He started in both of the first two games versus Philadelphia and went 2-for-5 with two walks between the contests. Walker will remain in the lineup for Thursday's finale, manning first base and batting cleanup.

Bell went 1-for-5 with a three-run home run in Wednesday's 8-5 win over the Blue Jays.

He turned around a slider from former teammate Brad Hand in the seventh inning for what proved to be the game-winning hit. Bell has now reached 20 homers in a season for the third time in his career, but he's slashing a sluggish .203/.273/.390 through 16 games in August.

Cabrera will sit Thursday against the Phillies.

The Diamondbacks are sitting several regulars on getaway day as they prepare to fly to Denver to take on the Rockies over the weekend. Cabrera sits after making five straight starts, with Drew Ellis taking over at third base.

Freeman went 4-for-5 with a home run, a triple, a double, a single and a walk to go with four runs and two RBI in Wednesday's 11-9 win over the Marlins.

The reigning National League MVP completed his second career cycle by the sixth inning, when he took reliever Luis Madero deep to center field for his 27th home run of the season. With five multi-hit performances in a row, Freeman's batting average (.301) now sits above .300 for the first time in 2021.

Wade went 2-for-5 with an RBI double and a run scored in Wednesday's 6-2 extra-innings loss to the Mets.

Wade and Alex Dickerson were the only Giants to record multiple hits in the marathon contest. This was Wade's first multi-hit effort since Aug. 11, lifting him out of a 3-for-15 slump. The outfielder owns a .252/.326/.523 slash line with 15 home runs, 39 RBI, 35 runs scored and three stolen bases through 241 plate appearances. He remains San Francisco's preferred leadoff hitter versus right-handed pitchers.

Alonso (elbow) had negative X-ray results after taking a pitch to the elbow and exiting Wednesday's game in San Francisco, Justice delos Santos of MLB.com reports.

That Alonso didn't exit the game immediately after getting hit suggested he avoided a major injury, and the X-ray confirmed as much. He should be considered day-to-day, and it's unclear whether he'll be available for Thursday's series opener in Los Angeles.

Manager Joe Girardi said Hoskins (groin) is doing better and could be activated off the injured list Friday, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

The Phillies were originally targeting a return for Hoskins during the series against the Diamondbacks, but it now appears the earliest he could be activated is Friday's series opener versus the Padres. Brad Miller should continue to fill in at first base until Hoskins officially rejoins the active roster.

Alonso was removed from Wednesday's game against the Giants after taking a pitch to the elbow, Deesha Thosar of the New York Daily News reports.

Alonso stayed on base and came around to score the tying run, but he was replaced at first base by Dominic Smith for the bottom of the ninth. He should be considered day-to-day, with an update on his condition likely coming after the afternoon contest ends.
