Matt Mervis 1B | WAS
Cubs' Matt Mervis: Hits first MLB home run
Mervis went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's loss to the Astros.
Mervis connected against Cristian Javier in the second inning for his first career MLB home run. He had six long balls in 24 games at the Triple-A level this season and should continue to develop his power stroke in the majors as he settles in. The rookie is now batting .250 with a .650 OPS across nine games and figures to stick as the team's primary option at first base for the foreseeable future.

Paul Goldschmidt 1B | NYY
Cardinals' Paul Goldschmidt: Back-to-back two-hit games
Goldschmidt went 2-for-3 with a double, two walks, two RBI and one run in Monday's 18-1 win over the Brewers.
Goldschmidt has posted four hits across the past two games and has turned in three multi-hit efforts in his last four contests, bringing his season-long batting average up from .306 to .319. Though the Cardinals are still sitting eight games under .500 for the season, the team's struggles don't fall on the shoulders of the reigning National League MVP. His .949 OPS is only 33 behind his mark from 2022, and he's already two stolen bases away from matching last season's total of seven.

Alec Bohm 3B | PHI
Phillies' Alec Bohm: Collects two hits
Bohm went 2-for-3 with a double, a home run and three RBI in Monday's 6-3 loss against the Giants.
Bohm was the only source of offense for the Phillies. He gave Philadelphia the lead with his second-inning homer. Bohm then cut the deficit to three with a sac fly. Bohm is producing again this season with a .278/.345/.430 slash line. The biggest difference for Bohm in 2023 is an improved plate discipline, as he is on his way to setting a career high in walks.

LaMonte Wade 1B | CHW
Giants' LaMonte Wade: Heads to bench
Wade isn't in the starting lineup for Monday's game against the Phillies, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.
Wade will take a seat with southpaw Bailey Falter set to serve as the primary pitcher Monday evening. Wilmer Flores draws the start at first base in Wade's absence.

Keston Hiura 2B | LAD
Brewers' Keston Hiura: Out with PCL injury
Hiura has been placed on the 7-day injured list with a PCL injury, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Hiura has performed well for Triple-A Nashville before the injury with a .331 average, 1.074 OPS and 12 homers in 118 at-bats. The former top prospect will not be able to return to the field until late June at the earliest. Hiura is no longer on the 40-man roster and struggled mightily after showing some success as a rookie, but his strong performance for Nashville as a 26-year-old was encouraging to see prior to the injury.

Christian Walker 1B | HOU
Diamondbacks' Christian Walker: Getting day off
Walker is not in the Diamondbacks' lineup for Monday's game in Oakland.
It appears to be a regular day off for the slugger. Pavin Smith will fill in for Walker at first base.
-
Michael Toglia 1B | COL
Rockies' Michael Toglia: Recalled from minors
The Rockies recalled Toglia from Triple-A Albuquerque on Monday, Danielle Allentuck of The Denver Gazette reports.
Toglia wasn't able to win an Opening Day roster spot but is up now to replace C.J. Cron (back), who was placed on the 10-day injured list. The 24-year-old turned in an .857 OPS with eight home runs over his 37 games with Albuquerque. Though Mike Moustakas is starting at first base Monday versus the Reds, the switch-hitting Toglia could be a candidate to fill a short-side platoon role at the position while Cron is on the shelf.

Matt Mervis 1B | WAS
Cubs' Matt Mervis: Heads to bench against lefty
Mervis is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Astros.
With southpaw Framber Valdez on the bump for Houston in the series opener, the lefty-hitting Mervis will give way to Trey Mancini at first base. Since his call-up from Triple-A Iowa on May 5, Mervis has started in eight of the Cubs' subsequent 10 games while hitting .219 with a 41.2 percent strikeout rate.
-
C.J. Cron 1B | BOS
Rockies' C.J. Cron: Goes on IL with back spasms
The Rockies placed Cron (back) on the 10-day injured list Monday, Danielle Allentuck of The Denver Gazette reports.
Cron departed Sunday's 4-0 win over the Phillies with back spasms and is now set to miss at least a week and a half of action. Mike Moustakas is starting at first base Monday against the Reds in Cron's stead, and Triple-A Albuquerque call-up Michael Toglia could also see time at the position while Cron is on the mend.

Luke Voit 1B | NYM
Brewers' Luke Voit: Lands on IL with neck strain
Milwaukee placed Voit on the 10-day injured list Monday with a strained neck.
Voit will be eligible to return later this month, although it's unclear whether he'll be ready then. Milwaukee signed Darin Ruf to a one-year contract in a corresponding move, and he'll presumably replace Voit as a short-side platoon option at either first base or designated hitter.
