  • Padres' Jake Cronenworth: Swats early home run

    Cronenworth went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer and a walk in Sunday's 9-1 win over Atlanta.

    Cronenworth opened up the scoring with a two-run blast off Bryce Elder in the opening frame for his only hit of the night. Cronenworth owns a 140 wRC+, which is currently third in baseball among all qualified first basemen, behind only Freddie Freeman and Bryce Harper. Cronenworth is putting together an excellent campaign and is currently slashing .275/.344/.485 with eight homers, 30 RBI, 21 runs and a 17:33 BB:K in 192 plate appearances.

  • Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Scores twice in win

    Freeman went 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored in Saturday's win over the Reds.

    Freeman drew a leadoff walk to open the bottom of the fourth and would eventually come home to score the Dodgers' first run of the contest later in the frame on a single from outfielder Andy Pages. The star first baseman would add an RBI single in the fourth, along with a leadoff double in the eighth, before coming around to score for a second time. Freeman had gone hitless in his previous two games but now has five multi-hit games in May to go along with six RBI and 14 runs scored. He's also tied for fifth in the league in doubles with 13.

    Phillies' Bryce Harper: Walks it off with sac fly

    Harper went 1-for-4 with a run, an RBI and a stolen base in Saturday's 4-3 extra-inning win against Washington.

    Harper singled, stole a base and came home on a double-play groundout in the fourth inning for Philadelphia's first run. He was retired his next two times at the plate before driving home the winning run with a walk-off sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 10th frame. Harper is batting .321 with four homers, 15 RBI, 14 runs and two stolen bases through 15 contests in May.

    Marlins' Josh Bell: Big homer off Diaz in comeback win

    Bell went 3-for-5 with a home run and four RBI in Saturday's 10-9 victory over the Mets in 10 innings.

    Bell had two singles -- including one that drove in a run -- when he strolled to the plate in the bottom of the ninth inning to face Edwin Diaz as the tying run. He then swatted one 428 feet for a three-run home run to knot things up before the Marlins eventually won in the 10th. Bell's home run -- which was his sixth of the season -- was measured at 107.9 mph off the bat. The first baseman is 10-for-25 with two long balls over his last six games.

    Giants' LaMonte Wade: Idle against lefty

    Wade isn't in the Giants' lineup for Saturday's game against the Rockies.

    Wade will begin Saturday's contest in the dugout as left-hander Ty Blach prepares to toe the slab for Colorado. Wilmer Flores will pick up a start at first base while batting third.

  • Pirates' Rowdy Tellez: Out against southpaw

    Tellez isn't in the Pirates' lineup Saturday versus the Cubs.

    Tellez will take a seat Saturday with lefty Shota Imanaga starting on the mound for Chicago. Connor Joe will start at first base and bat third.

    Cubs' Michael Busch: Idle versus lefty

    Busch isn't in the Cubs' lineup for Saturday's game against the Pirates.

    With lefty Bailey Falter set to start on the mound for the Bucs, the left-handed bat of Busch will remain in Chicago's dugout. His absence will give Patrick Wisdom an opportunity to start at first while batting leadoff.

  • Padres' Jake Cronenworth: Tallies three hits

    Cronenworth went 3-for-5 with one RBI in Friday's win over Atlanta.

    Cronenworth knocked three singles to collect his fourth three-hit performance of 2024. After beginning the campaign hitting .263 (30-for-114) through April 30, the Padres first baseman has kicked into a higher gear in May, starting the month by hitting .302 (16-for-53). Overall, Cronenworth is slashing .275/.342/.473 with seven homers and 28 RBI in 190 plate appearances this season.

  • Joey Gallo LF | CHW

    Nationals' Joey Gallo: Activated from IL

    Gallo (shoulder) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Friday.

    As expected, Gallo will return to the big-league roster after being placed on the 10-day IL on April 27 with a sprained AC joint in his left shoulder. In a corresponding move, Trey Lipscomb was optioned to Triple-A Rochester. Before the injury, Gallo was seeing most of his work in right field, and he should continue to play in right since Lane Thomas (knee) is still sidelined.

    Mets' Pete Alonso: Swats solo homer

    Alonso went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional run during Thursday's 6-5 win over the Phillies in extra innings.

    Alonso tagged Taijuan Walker (foot) for a solo shot in the first inning, putting the first baseman at 10 homers this season. He's now tied for the fourth-most home runs in the NL and owns a .772 OPS with 23 RBI and 27 runs through 164 at-bats.
