Spencer Torkelson 1B | DET
Tigers' Spencer Torkelson: Impressive Opening Day performance
Torkelson went 1-for-1 with a solo home run and four walks Thursday against the Dodgers.
Torkelson had a strong spring and benefited from some injuries on the Detroit roster, a combination that set him up for regular at-bats to begin the season. He took advantage with his first opportunity as he put together solid plate appearances, the most productive of which was a solo home run in the fifth inning. Torkelson has consistently shown patience at the plate in his big-league career, and he should be able to take a step forward in production if he can tap into his raw power more consistently.

Vinnie Pasquantino 1B | KC
Royals' Vinnie Pasquantino: Homers on Opening Day
Pasquantino went 2-for-4 with a double and a three-run homer in Thursday's loss against Cleveland.
Pasquantino suffered a Grade 1-plus right hamstring strain just five days ago, but he was able to start at DH on Thursday and started the scoring with a three-run shot during the third inning, He may not play first base for a few games, but his injury certainly didn't limit him at the plate Opening Day.

Kyle Manzardo 1B | CLE
Guardians' Kyle Manzardo: Huge day in opener
Manzardo went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer, a double, a triple and four total RBI in Thursday's 7-4 win over Kansas City.
Manzardo starred in Cleveland's Opening Day win, ultimately winding up a single shy of a cycle. The left-hander put the Guardians ahead 4-3 with a two-run homer off Angel Zerpa in the fourth inning before driving in two more runs with a triple in the 10th, the first of his MLB career. Manzardo already came into the season as a popular sleeper candidate after a strong showing in Spring Training. He slashed .234/.282/.421 with five homers and 15 RBI in 156 plate appearances as a rookie last year.

Rowdy Tellez 1B | TEX
Mariners' Rowdy Tellez: Starting at first base in opener
Tellez will start at first base and bat seventh in Thursday's opener against the Athletics, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.
The 30-year-old had appeared in line to handled designated hitter duties, but he will play first base instead while Luke Raley occupies the DH spot. Tellez is looking for a bounce-back 2025 season after he slashed only .243/.299/.392 in 131 games last year for the Pirates.

Triston Casas 1B | BOS
Red Sox's Triston Casas: In lineup for opener
Casas (hand) will start at first base and bat cleanup in Thursday's season opener in Texas.
Casas took a ball off his bare hand in the field earlier this week, but X-rays were negative, and he'll be good to go for the start of the season. The first baseman was limited to only 63 games in 2024 due to injury but heads into the 2025 campaign with a clean bill of health.

Christian Walker 1B | HOU
Astros' Christian Walker: Part of Opening Day lineup
Walker (oblique) will start at first base and bat cleanup in Thursday's season opener versus the Mets, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Walker didn't make any Grapefruit League appearances after March 2 due to left oblique soreness, but he resumed taking swings in batting practice nearly two weeks ago and was able to get in some competitive at-bats in minor-league games this past weekend. The first baseman also played the field in a simulated game Monday, clearing up most of the concern about his health heading into Opening Day. The Astros are counting on Walker providing some thump in the middle of the order after Houston traded away Kyle Tucker and let Alex Bregman walk in free agency this offseason.

Vinnie Pasquantino 1B | KC
Royals' Vinnie Pasquantino: In lineup for Thursday's opener
Pasquantino (hamstring) will start at designated hitter and bat third in Thursday's season opener versus the Guardians.
Pasquantino suffered a Grade 1-plus right hamstring strain just five days ago, but he made enough improvement that the Royals are comfortable with him at least playing in a non-defensive role on Opening Day. Cavan Biggio will occupy Pasquantino's usual position at first base.

Triston Casas 1B | BOS
Red Sox's Triston Casas: Expected to be fine for Opening Day
Casas (hand) is expected to be ready to play Thursday against the Rangers, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.
X-rays were negative after Casas attempted to field a bad hop with his bare hand Monday. Manager Alex Cora noted after Tuesday's exhibition that Casas was sore but feeling "a lot better," while the decision to hold him out Tuesday was described as precautionary. With that, Casas appears to be in line to bat cleanup against right-hander Nathan Eovaldi on Opening Day, though fantasy managers may want to confirm his status before first pitch.

Ryan Noda 1B | BAL
Angels' Ryan Noda: Dispatched to Salt Lake
The Angels optioned Noda to Triple-A Salt Lake on Wednesday.
Noda batted .182 this spring, but 15 walks in 49 plate appearances helped him finish the Cactus League with an .813 OPS. Despite his display of plate discipline and ability to play first base and the corner outfield, he'll have to work his way back into the majors by maintaining success at the Triple-A level.

Romy Gonzalez 2B | BOS
Red Sox's Romy Gonzalez: Cleared for Opening Day
Gonzalez (oblique) will be on the Red Sox' active roster for Opening Day, Christopher Smith of MassLive.com reports.
Gonzalez was held out of the Boston's final six Grapefruit League games as he dealt with right oblique soreness, but he's been working out in recent days and convinced the team he doesn't need a trip to the injured list. The 28-year-old will be part of the Red Sox' bench and will see some starts against southpaws.
