Abreu was scratched from Tuesday's lineup against the Twins due to lower abdominal pain, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.

The 31-year-old was on a tear prior to suffering the injury, hitting .330/.394/.652 with nine homers and 26 RBI in 29 games since the All-Star break. Consider him day-to-day for now. It's a rare day off for Abreu, who has started 39 consecutive games for the White Sox. The veteran first baseman is hitting an impressive .330/.394/.652 with nine homers and 26 RBI in 29 games since the All-Star break. Matt Davidson will man first base and hit third in his stead.

  • Luke Voit 1B | NYM

Yankees' Luke Voit: Called up by Yankees

Voit was called up from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday.

Voit is up to replace Didi Gregorius, who was placed on the disabled list with a heel contusion in a corresponding move. Voit has gotten into 13 major-league games this season with the Yankees and Cardinals, hitting just .185. He'll likely be a bench bat during his time in New York.

White Sox's Jose Abreu: Extends hit streak

Abreu went 2-for-5 with a double, two RBI, a run scored and a stolen base in Monday's 8-5 win over the Twins.

Abreu extended his hitting streak to seven games, during which he's gone 11-for-28 (.393) with five extra-base hits and 11 RBI. The slugger experienced a summer slumber, hitting .221 with seven home runs in 52 games during June and July, but has rebounded in August. Abreu is slashing .338/.380/.676 with six homers over 18 games since Aug. 1.

  • C.J. Cron 1B | BOS

Rays' C.J. Cron: Not starting Monday

Cron is not in the lineup Monday against the Royals.

Cron has started against just one of the last four righties the Rays have faced, with Jake Bauers starting at first base and Ji-Man Choi starting as the designated hitter on three occasions, including Monday.

  • Yuli Gurriel DH | SD

Astros' Yuli Gurriel: Launches three-run shot

Gurriel went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run Sunday against the Athletics.

Gurriel took Sean Manaea deep in the third inning for his eighth home run of the season. Since bringing his average up to a season-best .310 mark on July 15, he has just nine RBI and 11 runs scored and is now batting .280. Though he's not known for his power production, he had also gone over a month without a home run prior to going deep on Wednesday against the Rockies. However, Gurriel has recorded at least one hit in six of his last seven games -- including four extra-base hits -- so he is showing signs of breaking out of this prolonged slump.

  • C.J. Cron 1B | BOS

Rays' C.J. Cron: Homers for second straight game

Cron went 1-for-4 with a solo homer in Sunday's 2-0 win over the Red Sox.

Cron went deep off Matt Barnes in the ninth inning to extend the team's lead heading into the final half-inning. The 28-year-old slugger has now homered in consecutive games after a slow start to the month (.214/.250/.429 across 13 games), so he'll look to keep things rolling as the Rays head to Kansas City for a four-game set with the Royals.

  • Matt Olson 1B | ATL

Athletics' Matt Olson: Keeps knocking cover off ball

Olson went 2-for-4 with an RBI double and two runs in a win over the Astros on Saturday.

Nine (seven doubles, two home runs) of Olson's 16 hits during August have now gone for extra bases, and he's generated three straight two-hit efforts. The 24-year-old's bat began heating up at the tail end of July, and he's now slashing .318/.366/.545 over the 71 plate appearances encompassing his last 17 games.

  • Yandy Diaz DH | TB

Indians' Yandy Diaz: Serving as primary DH

Diaz will serve as the Indians' designated hitter and bat fourth Sunday against the Orioles.

Diaz was recalled from Triple-A Columbus on Aug. 11 in a corresponding move for Edwin Encarnacion's (biceps) placement on the disabled list and has effectively assumed Encarnacion's spot as the Indians' primary DH. The 26-year-old, who has gone 5-for-13 with three RBI since his promotion, will draw his third consecutive start Sunday.
