Rizzo is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Angels.

Rizzo has hit solo homers in back-to-back games but will take a seat for Wednesday's series finale. New York has a scheduled day off Thursday, so his absence from the lineup will provide him two straight days of rest. DJ LeMahieu will shift to first base while Gleyber Torres starts at the keystone.

The Tigers plan to recall Torkelson from Triple-A Toledo on Thursday, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

After being optioned to Toledo on July 17, Torkelson was a league-average performer (100 wRC+) in the minors, as he slashed an unremarkable .228/.347/.394 with a 25.5 percent strikeout rate over 150 plate appearances. Though he didn't show the major offensive turnaround at Triple-A that the Tigers had hoped, Torkelson looks like he'll receive the call back to Detroit nonetheless. However, due to his poor showing with Detroit over the first three months of the season along with his lackluster production at Triple-A, Torkelson won't be a lock to reclaim the everyday role at first base and may have to share the position with Harold Castro.

Diaz went 2-for-3 with two doubles, a run scored and an RBI on Tuesday against the Marlins.

Diaz tallied an RBI double in the third inning and later came around to score in the fifth frame after recording his second two-base hit of the day. He now has a four-game hitting streak, during which he's gone 8-for-17 with a home run, two RBI and six runs scored. Diaz is hitting .283/.389/.416 across 478 plate appearances on the season.

Abreu went 2-for-5 with two runs scored Tuesday against the Royals.

Abreu reached base on a pair of singles and managed to tally at least one run scored for the third consecutive game. Across his last 16 starts, Abreu has hit .400 with 10 runs scored and five RBI. Though his power production has been depressed, Abreu now has a .309 average with 72 runs scored and 60 RBI across 551 plate appearances for the season.

Santana went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk in a win over the Tigers on Tuesday.

Santana took Daniel Norris deep in the fifth inning with Ty France aboard for the Mariners' final two runs of the game. The veteran had last left the yard Aug. 10, and his productive effort Tuesday pushed his slash line over the last seven games to an impressive .273/.360/.455 across a sample of 25 plate appearances.

Pratto went 4-for-5 with two home runs for a total of three RBI and three runs scored in a 9-7 victory over the White Sox on Tuesday.

Pratto put together the best game of his young career with a four-hit effort that included two home runs off Lucas Giolito. The rookie first baseman is slashing .209/.295/.461 in 115 at-bats this season and has a path to continued playing time with Vinnie Pasquantino sidelined due to shoulder discomfort.

Guerrero went 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in Tuesday's 5-3 win over the Cubs.

His solo shot in the seventh inning off Michael Rucker gave the Blue Jays a bit of insurance. Guerrero is putting the finishing touches on another solid month, slashing .283/.319/.513 through 26 games in August with eight doubles and six of his 27 homers on the season.

Naylor went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 5-1 win over the Orioles.

Naylor's fourth-inning blast put the Guardians ahead for good. The 25-year-old has had some struggles at the plate lately -- this homer was his first extra-base hit since Aug. 13. In his last 12 games, he's gone just 7-for-39 (.179), though the slump has yet to cost him his near-everyday role. Naylor is slashing .263/.315/.459 with 16 long balls, 61 RBI, 35 runs scored and five stolen bases through 93 contests this year.

Rizzo went 1-for-2 with a solo home run and two walks in Tuesday's 7-4 win over the Angels.

Rizzo homered for the second straight game, taking Mike Mayers deep in the second inning Tuesday. This long ball was Rizzo's 30th of the season, making this the first time he's reached that threshold since 2017. He's only two homers shy of his career high, a mark he reached in three of four seasons between 2014 and 2017. In 2022, the first baseman is slashing .225/.339/.493 with 71 RBI, 71 runs scored and six stolen bases through 116 contests.

France went 3-for-4 with a homer, three runs scored and two RBI in a 9-3 win Tuesday in Detroit.

France hit a solo shot in the second and singled and scored in his next two plate appearances. He's homered in consecutive games after hitting just one long ball in his previous 24 contests. With 16 homers on the season, the All-Star is two shy of his 2021 total, when he set a career high.
