  • Ty France 1B | SD

Mariners' Ty France: Keeps raking Wednesday

France went 2-for-4 with an RBI single, a walk and a run in a win over the Cubs on Wednesday.

France gave the Mariners some all-important breathing room with his seventh-inning knock, which plated J.P. Crawford to extend Seattle's lead to 3-1. The multi-hit effort was simply an extension of a torrid stretch for France over his last 10 games, a span in which he's generated a .356 average, .887 OPS and five multi-hit tallies overall across 50 plate appearances.

  • Ryan O'Hearn 1B | PIT

Orioles' Ryan O'Hearn: Added to roster

The Orioles selected O'Hearn's contract from Triple-A Norfolk on Thursday.

The O's kept three catchers for a while but will now shift back to two with O'Hearn taking Anthony Bemboom's spot. O'Hearn had put up a 1.074 OPS with four home runs in his first nine games with Norfolk. He could see some starts against righties.

  • Bobby Dalbec 1B | CHW

Red Sox's Bobby Dalbec: Starts at shortstop

Dalbec started at shortstop and went 0-for-4 in Wednesday's 9-7 loss to the Rays.

Dalbec made his second career start at shortstop, and it was an inauspicious one. He booted a grounder in the first inning that helped lead to Tampa Bay scoring three times. Dalbec is familiar with that side of the infield, having come up through the system as a third baseman, but he doesn't have a defensive home on this year's club. He's expected to remain up with the team while the Red Sox are projected to face four straight lefties through the weekend, but Dalbec could be back in the minors after that stretch.

  • Royals' Vinnie Pasquantino: Slugs second homer

Pasquantino went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, an additional run and a walk in Wednesday's 10-1 rout of the Rangers.

Pasquantino knocked a 388-foot homer in the third inning for his second long ball of the campaign. The first baseman extended his on-base streak to eight games, and he's slashing .385/.500/.769 over that stretch. As he did as a rookie last year, Pasquantino has demonstrated elite command of the strike zone in 2023 -- he has a 16.3 percent walk rate that matches his 16.3 percent strikeout rate through 49 plate appearances.

  • Luke Raley RF | SEA

Rays' Luke Raley: Sitting against lefty

Raley is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Red Sox, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

The lefty-hitting Raley will see a string of four straight starts come to an end with Tampa Bay manager Kevin Cash opting to play matchups against Boston southpaw Chris Sale. Tampa Bay is going with an all-righty-hitting outfield of Randy Arozarena, Manuel Margot and Harold Ramirez from left to right.

  • Yandy Diaz 1B | TB

Rays' Yandy Diaz: In Wednesday's lineup

Diaz (shoulder) is in the Rays' lineup Wednesday versus the Red Sox as their designated hitter and leadoff man.

Diaz was pulled from Tuesday's contest after landing on his left shoulder, but he checked out fine and is back in there a day later as the Rays try to run their record to 12-0. With Diaz at DH, Tampa Bay has Isaac Paredes at first base and Taylor Walls at third.

  • Donovan Solano 1B | TEX

Twins' Donovan Solano: Handling everyday gig at first base

Solano will start at first base and bat leadoff in Wednesday's game against the White Sox.

Solano is picking up his eighth consecutive start Wednesday, with the last seven coming at first base. With Joey Gallo (intercostal) recently joining Alex Kirilloff (wrist) on the injured list, Solano looks like he'll have a clear path to a regular lineup spot until one of the two injured players returns. Solano takes a six-game hitting streak into Wednesday's contest and should be a strong source of batting average while he's playing regularly, but his fantasy utility is limited in just about every other category.

  • Jose Abreu 1B | HOU

Astros' Jose Abreu: Mixed start to season

Abreu went 1-for-5 with three strikeouts Tuesday against the Pirates.

Abreu collected at least one hit in each of his first 10 games of the season, but he's also uncharacteristically struck out at a 27.8 percent clip early on. After Tuesday's performance, he's punched out three times in three of his last five games. He also has only one extra-base hit, which has led to an empty .280 batting average across 54 plate appearances on the campaign.

  • Bobby Dalbec 1B | CHW

Red Sox's Bobby Dalbec: On base twice, steals bag

Dalbec started at first base and went 1-for-1 with a walk and a stolen base in Tuesday's 7-2 loss to the Rays.

The Red Sox held primary first baseman Triston Casas on the bench, giving Dalbec his first start since being called up from Triple-A Worcester after Boston placed Adam Duvall (wrist) on the injured list. The Red Sox opted to call up Dalbec instead of center fielder Jarren Duran because they are projected to face several lefties in the coming week and felt Dalbec's right-handed bat was a better offensive fit. At this time, first base is not considered a platoon, although Casas, much like Dalbec the last two seasons, is off to a slow start. He's batting .161 after two hitless at-bats off the bench Tuesday. The Red Sox will see right-hander Taj Bradley on Wednesday, so expect Casas back in the lineup. After Wednesday, Boston is projected to see four consecutive lefties, which means potential starts for Dalbec. At some point next week, the team could replace Dalbec with the lefty-hitting Duran, who could be part of the rotation replacing Duvall in the field.

  • Royals' Vinnie Pasquantino: Gets aboard four times

Pasquantino went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a walk and a run scored in Tuesday's 8-5 extra-inning loss to the Rangers.

Pasquantino did his part out of the cleanup spot, but Nos. 5 and 6 hitters Edward Olivares and Michael Massey went a combined 0-for-8 with one walk. This was Pasquantino's third multi-hit effort in his last five games -- he's one of the Royals' few batters who seems to be turning things around. For the season, he's slashing .289/.400/.500 with a home run, three RBI, five doubles and four runs scored through 12 contests.
