  • Mark Canha LF | TEX

Tigers' Mark Canha: Drives in two in win

Canha went 1-for-2 with a walk and two RBI in Saturday's 7-2 win over the Twins.

Canha batted cleanup and helped lead Detroit to a comfortable win. The veteran has been solid lately, as he's batting .310 over his last 10 games with one home run, five RBI and six runs scored. Canha is a potential trade candidate before Tuesday's deadline, as he's on the last year of his contract, and he would give a contending team a proven MLB hitter who batted .260 or better each of the last two seasons, though he's slumped a bit this year with a .233 average overall.

  • Yandy Diaz DH | TB

Rays' Yandy Diaz: Goes yard Saturday

Diaz went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 4-0 win over the Reds.

He went back-to-back with Alex Jackson off Andrew Abbott to lead off the fifth inning, breaking open a 1-0 game. While the homer was only the ninth of the year for Diaz, a disappointing total after he slugged a career-high 22 last season, he has been supplying more power in July, slashing .278/.328/.481 through 13 games on the month. The 32-year-old is on an affordable contract that pays him $10 million in 2025 with a $12 million club option for 2026, but with the Rays in sell mode at the trade deadline and a number of contenders in need of help at first base, Diaz could be the next player to go.

  • Josh Naylor 1B | SEA

Guardians' Josh Naylor: Out of lineup Saturday

Naylor is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Phillies.

Naylor will sit for a second straight game. He went 2-for-9 with one RBI and two walks in the Guardians' three-game series against the Tigers, and for the month of July he has a .665 OPS across 76 plate appearances. Jhonkensy Noel will start at first base Saturday and bat eighth against Phillies right-hander Tyler Phillips.

  • Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: Takes seat Saturday

Mountcastle is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against San Diego.

Mountcastle will begin Saturday's contest in the dugout after going 0-for-3 with two RBI in Friday's 6-4 loss to the Padres. Ryan O'Hearn will start at first base Saturday while Heston Kjerstad serves as the designated hitter.

  • Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: On base four times Friday

Guerrero went 1-for-2 with three walks and a run scored in Friday's win over Texas.

The Rangers tried to pitch around the one consistent threat in the Toronto lineup, but it didn't help them in the end. Guerrero has hit safely in eight straight games, batting .464 (13-for-28) over that stretch with two doubles, five homers and eight RBI, and he's boosted his slash line on the season to .297/.370/.487 with 18 home runs and 62 RBI in 102 contests.

  • Astros' Jon Singleton: Pops eighth homer

Singleton went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run Friday against the Dodgers.

Singleton has been out of the Astros' lineup for only two games in July but has struggled considerably by hitting .221 with a 29.3 percent strikeout rate across 68 at-bats. He did manage his first home run in 13 starts Friday, bringing his total on the campaign to eight. The Astros haven't shown any signs of benching Singleton, though his playing time could be in danger once Kyle Tucker (shin) is able to return.

  • Yandy Diaz DH | TB

Rays' Yandy Diaz: Records hit in return

Diaz went 1-for-5 against the Reds on Friday.

Diaz missed seven games while on the restricted list with an undisclosed personal issue. He returned to his customary leadoff position and now has at least one hit in nine of his 12 starts in July to go along with six RBI and four runs scored.

  • Nolan Schanuel 1B | LAA

Angels' Nolan Schanuel: Blasts 10th homer

Schanuel went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk in Friday's 5-4 loss to the Athletics.

Schanuel is 8-for-23 (.348) with two homers over eight games since the All-Star break. The Angels have started to hit him lower in the lineup -- he's batted fifth or lower in three of the last four games after routinely having the first baseman in the top third of the order earlier in the season. He's at a middling .246/.333/.367 slash line with 10 homers, 36 RBI, 37 runs scored, 11 doubles and four stolen bases over 96 contests.

  • Josh Naylor 1B | SEA

Guardians' Josh Naylor: Not in Friday's lineup

Naylor is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Phillies.

Naylor started the previous 10 games but will sit Friday after he went 5-for-34 with one extra-base hit during that stretch. Jhonkensy Noel will start at first base against Philadelphia lefty Cristopher Sanchez.

  • Dominic Smith DH | ATL

Red Sox's Dominic Smith: Taking seat Friday

Smith is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Yankees, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.

Smith will hand first-base duties over to Romy Gonzalez on Friday with southpaw Nestor Cortes on the mound for the Yankees. Since the All-Star break, Smith is 3-for-14 with three walks and three strikeouts.
