Top Browns News

  • Browns' Bailey Zappe: Elevated for Week 12

Zappe has been elevated from the Browns' practice squad Saturday.

This marks the second time that Zappe has been elevated from the Browns' practice quad this season. The 26-year-old will be operating as the No. 2 quarterback with Shedeur Sanders making his first career NFL start in place of Dillon Gabriel (concussion). Zappe started one game for the Browns in 2024, completing 16 of 31 passes for 170 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions.

  • Browns' Cam Robinson: Good to go for Week 12

Robinson (knee) doesn't carry an injury designation into Sunday's game against the Raiders, Chris Easterling of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.

Robinson was injured in last Sunday's loss to the Ravens but avoided a major issue and is good to suit up as Shedeur Sanders' blind-side protector. Robinson figures to see some of Maxx Crosby in this contest.

  • Browns' Jack Conklin: Questionable for Week 12

Conklin (knee) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Raiders.

Conklin has started each of the past three contests but tweaked his knee in last Sunday's loss to the Ravens. Cornelius Lucas and KT Leveston would be next in line for snaps at right tackle if Conklin is unable to play.

  • Browns' Alex Wright: Out for Sunday

Wright (quadriceps) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Raiders, Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN.com reports.

The fourth-year pro from UAB logged consecutive DNPs to begin the Browns' week of practice due to a quadriceps injury, so it's no surprise that he'll be sidelined in Week 12. Wright has appeared in nine games for Cleveland this season, recording 24 total tackles, including 3.0 sacks. Expect Cameron Thomas to operate as the Browns' top reserve defensive end while Wright is out Sunday.

  • Browns' Jamari Thrash: Out for Week 12

Thrash (foot) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Raiders, Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN.com reports.

The 24-year-old wideout from Louisville didn't practice Thursday due to a foot injury and is now in line to miss his second game of the season in Week 12. Thrash has appeared in nine games this year, catching 10 of 15 targets for 107 yards over 216 offensive snaps. While he's out Sunday, Gage Larvadain could have an expanded role in Cleveland's wide receiver corps.

  • Browns' David Njoku: Cleared for Week 12

Njoku (knee) won't carry an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Raiders, Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN.com reports.

Njoku didn't practice Wednesday or Thursday as he manages a knee issue, but the tight end's return to Friday's session paves the way for him to play versus Las Vegas this weekend. In the process, he'll remain a key target alongside fellow TE Harold Fannin, as well as WRs Jerry Jeudy and Cedric Tillman, in a Week 12 offense that will be helmed by Shedeur Sanders, who is making his first career regular-season start at QB with Dillon Gabriel (concussion) out.

  • Browns' Dillon Gabriel: Ruled out for Week 12

Gabriel (concussion) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Raiders, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

That said, per Zac Jackson of The Athletic, coach Kevin Stefanski indicated Friday that the QB -- who has yet to fully clear concussion protocol -- "continues to get better...doing great." Gabriel's next chance to see game action will arrive Sunday, Nov. 30 against the 49ers, with Shedeur Sanders slated to start Sunday, backed up by Bailey Zappe.

  • Browns' Dillon Gabriel: Practicing but still in protocol

Gabriel (concussion) is practicing Friday, but he has yet to fully clear the NFL's five-step concussion protocol, Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

Shedeur Sanders has already been declared the starting quarterback for Sunday's game against the Raiders, but Gabriel still has a chance to be available in a backup role. Gabriel would have to clear concussion protocol to be active Sunday, which would involve practicing without limitations Friday and subsequently gaining clearance from an independent neurologist. If Gabriel's ultimately ruled out, Bailey Zappe would likely work as Sanders' backup Sunday.

  • Browns' David Njoku: Back at practice Friday

Njoku (knee) returned to practice Friday, Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN.com reports.

Njoku didn't practice Wednesday or Thursday, so the tight end's return to the field Friday is a positive sign ahead of Sunday's 4:05 p.m ET game against the Raiders. The Browns' upcoming injury report will note both Njoku's official participation level Friday as well as his Week 12 game status.
