  • Browns' Quinshon Judkins: Misses practice Wednesday with minor issue

Judkins wasn't present at practice Wednesday due to an undisclosed minor injury, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

Judkins' absence may have stemmed from Tuesday's session, when he was front and center to some unnecessary hits, per Cabot. The Browns are hosting a joint practice with the Bills on Thursday before taking on Buffalo in preseason action Saturday, but it's unclear if Judkins will suit up for either of those. Dylan Sampson would stand to benefit with more work for as long as Judkins is sidelined.

  • Browns' Quinshon Judkins: Does little in preseason opener

Judkins carried the ball four times for nine yards in Saturday's 34-10 preseason loss to the Bears.

The second-year back got the start for the Browns but played only the first quarter before calling it a day. Judkins is the clear top dog in the backfield, and after gaining 998 scrimmage yards on 256 touches over 14 regular-season games as a rookie, the 2025 second-round pick is expected to take on a larger workload in 2026 under new head coach Todd Monken.

  • Browns' Quinshon Judkins: Seems primed for huge role

Judkins is expected to take on a larger role in the passing game this year, according to Scott Petrak of BrownsZone.

The report also notes that "the plan is for Judkins to be a workhorse" under new Browns head coach Todd Monken. A couple of weeks ago, RBs coach Duce Staley said the second-year back "can play all three downs" once he has the mental aspect mastered. The Browns still have Dylan Sampson as an option for passing downs or to mix in on early downs, but it sounds like Judkins will get the lion's share of touches come Week 1. He's been a full practice participant since OTAs, coming back strong from late-December surgery on a dislocated ankle and fractured fibula.

  • Browns' Quinshon Judkins: Praised by RB coach

Browns running backs coach Duce Staley said Friday that the "sky's the limit" for Judkins, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports.

"I'm gonna push him to find out," Staley added of Judkins, who is participating in training camp after recovering from a dislocated right ankle and fractured fibula suffered in Week 16 of the 2025 season. Prior to the injury, Judkins enjoyed a productive rookie campaign, totaling 998 scrimmage yards and seven rushing touchdowns in 14 regular-season appearances. Judkins is expected to work as Cleveland's lead back, with fellow second-year pro Dylan Sampson serving in a change-of-pace role.

  • Browns' Quinshon Judkins: Should open at full speed

Judkins (ankle/fibula) is in line to be full go at the start of training camp, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.

Judkins, who is bouncing back from a dislocated right ankle and fractured fibula that he suffered in Week 16 last season, had been able to work in team drills this spring, but the fact that the 2025 second-rounder is on track to work without restrictions in training camp positions him to maintain his role as Cleveland's clear-cut top back, a role that carries weekly fantasy utlity. In the mix to log complementary touches behind Judkins this season are Dylan Sampson, Raheim Sanders and Ahmani Marshall.

  • Browns' Quinshon Judkins: Looks explosive at OTAs

Browns head coach Todd Monken said Wednesday that Judkins (ankle) has looked confident and explosive at OTAs, Chris Easterling of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.

Judkins has been a full participant in spring practices by all accounts, despite suffering a dislocated right ankle and fractured fibula in Week 16 last season. Year-after results have often been poor for players with similar injuries, but most of them (including Tampa Bay's Chris Godwin) suffered damage lower down their leg/ankle. Judkins' injury was higher up on the ankle, which seemingly helped him avoid significant ligament damage and set up a rehab process that's not as tricky as Godwin's (or Cam Skattebo's). Monken is pleased with Judkins' progress this offseason, but the Browns' new head coach did qualify his statements to a degree, telling reporters, "we'll just see when [Judkins] gets the pads on."

  • Browns' Quinshon Judkins: Taking 11-on-11 reps

Judkins (ankle) is taking carries in 11-on-11s, Chris Easterling of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.

Five months removed from surgery on a broken leg and a dislocated ankle, Judkins is already sprinting and making cuts during team drills at OTAs. While this rapid progress doesn't automatically mean he'll be a full participant when contact work begins in late July, it proves he is ahead of schedule in his rehab and on track for a Week 1 start. The Browns have shaky depth behind him in the backfield, rostering 2025 fourth-round pick Dylan Sampson and a quartet of undrafted young players.
