Cook was waived by the Jets on Tuesday, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
Cook played in all three of the team's preseason games, completing 25 of 38 passes for 235 yards and a touchdown, while he also threw an interception. The quarterback signed with the Jets as an undrafted free agent in April, and if he goes unclaimed on waivers, there's a good chance his sticks around New York as a member of the practice squad.

Jets' Brady Cook: Tosses TD in preseason loss
Rotowire
Cook completed six of 11 passes for 74 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 31-12 preseason loss to the Giants.
Cook didn't get into the game until the final 20 minutes, but it was still a memorable night for the rookie out of Missouri, whose four-yard touchdown pass to Quentin Skinner in the fourth quarter was Cook's first touchdown pass in the NFL. Tyrod Taylor (knee) has been ruled out for the remainder of the preseason, so either Cook or Adrian Martinez could begin the regular season as Justin Fields' backup if Taylor isn't ready to return by then. The competition between Cook and Martinez could come down to how they perform in Friday's preseason finale against the Eagles.

Jets' Brady Cook: Second QB into Saturday's game
Rotowire
Cook completed six of eight passes for 62 yards and rushed once for minus-five yards in Saturday's 30-10 preseason win over the Packers.
With Tyrod Taylor (knee) sitting out, Cook was the second quarterback into the game for the Jets after starter Justin Fields played the opening drive. Cook played the remainder of the first half before being replaced by Adrian Martinez, who threw for 152 yards and a touchdown in the second half. The competition for the third spot on the quarterback depth chart between Cook -- who signed with the Jets as an undrafted free agent out of Missouri in April -- and the 2024 UFL MVP Martinez will continue in the team's next preseason game, Aug. 16 against the Giants.

Brady Cook: In line to join Jets
Rotowire
Cook is slated to sign with the Jets as an undrafted free agent, Kyle Helms of ABC reports.
Cook should head to New York after completing 201 of his 321 pass attempts for 2535 yards, 11 touchdowns and two interceptions in addition to carrying the ball 87 times for 223 yards and five touchdowns during his final season at Missouri. He should have the opportunity to compete with Jordan Travis (lower leg) and Adrian Martinez for the team's No. 3 quarterback spot.
