  • Ravens' Teddye Buchanan: ACL recovery going well

Coach Jesse Minter said Wednesday that Buchanan is ahead of schedule in his recovery from the torn ACL he suffered in December, NFL.com reports. While Buchanan's rehab seems to be progressing nicely so far, he's still less than six months out from the ACL tear he sustained in Week 15 of his rookie season, and there's still no timetable for his return to team activities. Until he's back to full strength, Trenton Simpson will be a candidate for increased reps at inside linebacker next to three-time All-Pro Roquan Smith.

Once fully healthy, he's expected to remain an integral part of the Ravens' linebacker corps.

  • Ravens' Teddye Buchanan: Officially placed on IR

The Ravens placed Buchanan (ACL) on injured reserve Saturday. Buchanan will miss the remainder of the 2025 campaign due to a torn right ACL suffered in Week 15 against the Bengals, so his placement on IR was anticipated. In Buchanan's stead, Trenton Simpson will now inherit a starting role at inside linebacker alongside Roquan Smith beginning Sunday versus the Patriots.

The 2025 fourth-round pick from California was having a stellar rookie campaign, recording 93 total tackles, 0.5 sacks, one pass defensed and one forced fumble across 14 appearances. With Buchanan likely missing the remainder of the 2025 season, expect Trenton Simpson to start at inside linebacker alongside Roquan Smith.

  • Ravens' Teddye Buchanan: Joining flock in Baltimore

The Ravens selected Buchanan in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, 129th overall. Buchanan spent the first three years of his college career at UC-Davis before joining Cal in his final season, where he went on to lead that team in tackles (114), sacks (5.0) and tackles for loss (12.0), earning him First Team All-ACC honors in 2024. Having a history under center, Buchanan possesses a high football IQ, which he utilizes to his advantage on the defensive side, allowing him to quickly digest plays in the middle of the defense. He'll try to carve out a role in the middle for the Ravens and may be asked to help on special teams as well.
