  • Giants' Elijah Riley: Misses Monday's practice

Riley (concussion) wasn't participating in Monday's practice, Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News reports. According to Leonard, it's unclear when Riley sustained his concussion and how much time he's expected to miss. The 26-year-old appeared in 13 regular-season games for the Steelers last season, recording 12 total tackles on 214 special-teams snaps. Expect Riley to compete for another special-teams role once he moves past his concussion.

  • Steelers' Elijah Riley: Gets designation to return

Pittsburgh designated Riley (ankle) for return from its injured reserve list Tuesday, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports. The move opens a 21-day window during which the Steelers can activate Riley before they'd be forced to shut him down for the rest of the season. Their injury reports during the week will give some indication of whether he might be able to play in Week 16 versus the Bengals.

  • Steelers' Elijah Riley: Moves to IR

Riley (ankle) was placed on injured reserve Monday, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports. Riley suffered a high-ankle sprain in Sunday's loss to the Browns and was likely looking at a multi-week absence. With his move to IR, the Army product will now be guaranteed to miss at least four weeks before he can return to action. In a corresponding move, Trenton Thompson was signed to the team's 53-man roster after being elevated from the practice squad each of the last two weeks.

  • Jets' Elijah Riley: Stays with Jets

Riley signed a one-year contract with the Jets on Monday, Howard Balzer of SI.com reports. Riley joined the Jets on Nov. 9, when he was signed off of the Eagles' practice squad. After joining the Jets, he appeared in seven games, recording 45 tackles (23 solo), with one sack and a pass defensed.

  • Jets' Elijah Riley: Practices fully Wednesday

Riley (concussion) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice, Rich Cimini of ESPN reports. Riley missed last week's win over the Jaguars, but he's evidently recovered from the concussion he suffered in Week 15 against the Dolphins. The 23-year-old safety out of Army should retake his starting role Sunday against the Buccaneers barring a setback.

  • Jets' Elijah Riley: Enters concussion protocol

Jets head coach Robert Saleh said Monday that Riley has been placed in the NFL's concussion protocol, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports. Riley's diagnosis comes as no surprise after he was stretchered off the field upon suffering a neck injury in Sunday's loss to the Dolphins. Fortunately, he checked out fine after the contest and had full motion of his extremities, so clearing the five-step concussion protocol will be his main focus as he aims to return to game action. Saleh said he expects Riley to return at some point over the Jets' final three games, perhaps even as soon as the team's Week 16 matchup with Jacksonville.
