• Christian Wade: Waived by Buffalo

  Rotowire Apr 1, 2022

Wade was waived by Buffalo on Friday, Aaron Wilson of ProFootballNetwork.com reports. Wade spent back-to-back seasons on Buffalo's practice squad and appeared to have a chance to make the Bills' initial 53-man roster ahead of the 2021 campaign before undergoing season-ending shoulder surgery. The undrafted running back didn't garner an injury designation during his release, so he's presumably healthy heading into the 2022 campaign.

• Bills' Christian Wade: Needs season-ending surgery

  Rotowire Sep 1, 2021

Wade (shoulder) is slated to undergo season-ending surgery, Sal Capaccio of WGR Sports Radio 550 Buffalo reports. Wade wasn't among Buffalo's initial cuts to reach the 53-man roster limit, but he looks destined to land on IR in the near future. After back-to-back seasons on Buffalo's practice squad, Wade's development will now need to pause as he focuses on recovery.

Wade missed Monday's practice due to a shoulder injury suffered last week in practice, Maddy Glab of the Bills' official site reports. Wade is missing valuable time to make his claim for a final roster spot, as he's on the outside looking in as the sixth or so RB on the depth chart.

• Bills' Christian Wade: Leaves practice early

  Rotowire Aug 5, 2021

Wade departed Thursday's practice early with a shoulder injury, Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic reports. Wade is competing for a reserve role or a spot on the practice squad, so any time spent sidelined could be detrimental to his chances of sticking with the Bills. The former rugby star is coming off back-to-back seasons on the scout team.

  Rotowire Jan 1, 2021

Wade (undisclosed) was restored to Buffalo's practice squad from the COVID-19 list Friday. • Christian Wade: Sticks on practice squad

  Rotowire Sep 6, 2020

The Bills signed Wade (quadriceps) to the practice squad Sunday. Wade also spent last season on Buffalo's practice squad as an exempt international player. After he failed to make it through roster cuts Saturday, it was expected that Wade would be given another shot to stick around and continue his development.

• Bills' Christian Wade: Waived by Buffalo

  Rotowire Sep 6, 2020

Wade (quadriceps) did not make it through Saturday's cut-down, Chris Brown of the Bills' official site reports. The former rugby star from Great Britain was a demon in preseason games last season and ultimately ended up on the practice squad, but with the Bills set at the top of the running back depth chart with Devin Singletary and Zack Moss, the team needs pass catchers and special teams guys to fill out the rest of the group, not a hard-running prospect. We imagine the Bills would love to get Wade on the practice squad again, where he's eligible to come back to the roster as the Bills' designated international player if he clears waivers.

• Bills' Christian Wade: Quad issue surfaces

  Rotowire Aug 24, 2020

Wade missed practice Monday due to a quadriceps injury, Maddy Glab of the Bills' official site reports. The former rugby star is trying to land a spot through the NFL's international program, but the team may end up being just too deep at running back unless Wade can prove he can also help on special teams. He'll need the injury to be a minor one to have a truer shot at making his case.

• Bills' Christian Wade: Eyes on roster spot

  Rotowire Jun 16, 2020

Wade, who served on the Bills' practice squad last season, is eager to show he's worthy of a spot on team's 53-man roster for 2020, Jay Skurski of The Buffalo News reports. "I didn't really realize how far I've come, really, until we started the virtual offseason up again," the running back said recently. "Just in terms of how much I understand, when I'm watching film, it's slowed down a bit more. I can actually decipher what's going on and what we're trying to achieve." Wade is not your average NFL player. He's a former British rugby star whom the Bills feel has the skill set that might translate to NFL play. He showed immediate glimpses of this during the 2019 preseason, though he ultimately ended up on the practice squad as an exempt international player. The Bills are already set at the top two running back spots with Devin Singletary and rookie third-rounder Zack Moss, but after that Wade should get a fair shake. Assuming no one else enters the mix, that puts Wade up against T.J. Yeldon, Taiwan Jones and Antonio Williams for what will likely be two more roster spots. The Bills have the option to keep Wade as an exempt practice squad member once again, but the 28-year-old has bigger sights the second time around.
