  • Giants' Anthony Johnson: Waived by New York

The Giants waived Johnson (undisclosed) on Tuesday, Patricia Traina of SI.com reports. Johnson spent last season on the Giants' reserve/PUP list due to an undisclosed injury. If the 2023 seventh-round pick clears waivers, he will be an unrestricted free agent and will be free to sign with any team. The safety last played in Week 18 of the 2024 season, where he logged three tackles and a pass defensed over 18 snaps in the Giants' 20-13 loss to the Eagles.

Johnson was let go by the team on Tuesday due to a failed physical but will now stay in New York after clearing waivers. The 2023 seventh-round pick will now be forced to miss at least the first four games of the regular season before he will be eligible to return.

The Giants waived Johnson (undisclosed) with a failed physical designation Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Johnson was a seventh-round selection by Green Bay in the 2023 NFL Draft. He joined the Giants last season and got into nine contests, tallying five tackles and one defensed pass while playing primarily on special teams. • Packers' Anthony Johnson: Sitting out practice

Johnson (knee) will not practice Thursday, Ryan Wood of USA Today reports. Johnson's absence is to rest the injury, which is not expected to be a long-term issue. The rookie safety is expected to fill a depth role in the secondary this season. However, he'll need to focus on his recovery first, so he can be ready to compete Week 1 against the Bears.
