  The Cowboys hosted Funderburk for a workout Tuesday, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports. The Panthers waived Funderburk from injured reserve Sept. 2. The cornerback has recovered from his undisclosed injury and is ready to return to NFL play. The Cowboys are running low on defensive backs, with Cobie Durant (hamstring), Shavon Revel (knee), Malik Hooker (forearm), Jalen Thompson (hamstring) and P.J. Locke (foot) all dealing with injuries. Funderburk could be elevated to the active roster quickly if he can make the practice squad.

Funderburk reverted to the Panthers' injured reserve list with an undisclosed issue Monday after clearing waivers. Funderburk compiled five total tackles during the preseason but he appears to have picked up an undisclosed injury at some point along the line. The cornerback will now be placed on waivers, and if he goes unclaimed, he'll revert to season-ending injured reserve with Carolina. If that ends up being the case, he'll have to reach an injury settlement with the team in order to have a chance to play this season.
