  • Jets' Jordan Travis: Announces medical retirement

Travis (lower leg) informed the Jets on Wednesday of his intention to medically retire from the NFL. Travis, a 2024 fifth-round pick, missed his entire rookie year while rehabbing from a serious left leg injury sustained during his final season at Florida State, and which has now resulted in him being advised to step away from the game of football. In his statement, Travis writes: "I gave everything I had to the rehab process but despite all my efforts, my leg never responded the way we hoped. After much prayer and consultation with the doctors, medical experts and my agent, I've been medically advised to retire from the game I love so deeply."

  • Jets' Jordan Travis: Not on track to play in 2024

Jets interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich said Wednesday that Travis has dealt with "some setbacks" in his recovery from the severe lower left leg injury he sustained at Florida State last November and won't be activated from the reserve/non-football injured list this season, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports. After selecting Travis in the fifth round of April's draft, the Jets were always viewing the 2024 season as a redshirt year for the 24-year-old signal-caller. That said, the Jets had been hopeful that Travis would be back to full health at some point this season, but that apparently won't happen after the young quarterback experienced some setbacks in his recovery from surgery. It's unclear if Travis will be fully cleared by the time OTAs start up during the spring.

  • Jets' Jordan Travis: Opening season on NFI list

The Jets placed Travis (ankle) on the reserve/non-football injury list Tuesday, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports. The rookie quarterback out of Florida State suffered a gruesome ankle injury last November and remains without a firm timetable for return. This could end up being a redshirt season for Travis, who will miss at least the first four games of 2024 with his placement on the NFI list. Tyrod Taylor heads into the year as Aaron Rodgers' backup.

  • Jets' Jordan Travis: Far from returning

Head coach Robert Saleh told reporters Thursday that Travis (ankle) needs more time to recover and won't be ready for training camp, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports. Travis sustained a horrific ankle injury during his final season at Florida State, and it seems his recovery process is taking longer than the Jets originally anticipated. The 24-year-old landed on the active/non-football injury list one week ago, and it sounds like he will remain there for quite some time. New York agreed to terms with quarterback Ben Bryant while Travis continues to recover from his ankle issue.

  • Jets' Jordan Travis: Should be ready for training camp

Travis, who is bouncing back from an ankle injury that he suffered last November, should be cleared for training camp, per coach Robert Saleh, Rich Cimini of ESPN reports. At this stage, Travis -- who the Jets took in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft -- continues to rebound from ankle surgery, with Cimini noting that the young QB was spotted riding a stationary bike during part of the practice that took place Friday at the start of the team's rookie minicamp. Early on in his pro career, Travis is slated to work behind the veteran duo of Aaron Rodgers (Achilles) and Tyrod Taylor, but when healthy, the Florida State product profiles as dual-threat signal-caller with intriguing playmaking ability for the Jets to develop.
