  • Texans' British Brooks: Back at practice

Brooks (hand) was back at practice with the Texans on Monday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Brooks broke his hand at practice and underwent surgery in early August, but he was able to return to the practice field after a three-week absence. The running back is competing for a spot on Houston's 53-man roster in 2026, and he'll look to be ready to go for Friday's preseason finale in Carolina.

  • Texans' British Brooks: Suffers hand injury

Brooks (hand) underwent surgery Wednesday to fix a broken hand, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Brooks reportedly broke his hand in practice and is set for a three-week recovery period. The special teams ace will be a large loss to a Texans roster looking to maintain players with multiphase upside. Players like fellow running back Noah Whittington or wide receiver Justin Watson will have a chance to step up and prove their versatility can merit a 53-man roster spot in 2026.

  • Texans' British Brooks: Rushing leader in win

Brooks had 13 carries for 63 yards in Sunday's 38-30 win over Indianapolis in Week 18. A number of events led to Brooks leading Houston's backfield in both attempts and yardage. In addition to Nick Chubb being a healthy inactive and Jawhar Jordan getting ruled out after an ankle injury, the Texans accepted their fate at halftime that they were not going to vault over Jacksonville for the AFC South title. Once that reality set in, lead back Woody Marks was put on the shelf for the second half, during which Brooks amassed all of his carries.

  • Texans' British Brooks: Contained to special teams

Brooks played all 19 of his snaps on special teams in Sunday's 20-10 win over the Chiefs. Brooks has been active for each of Houston's last 10 games, but he's been deployed almost exclusively on special teams in those contests. The reserve running back has played just five total snaps on offense across the Texans' last four games.

  • Texans' British Brooks: Receives two red-zone carries

Brooks had two carries for zero yards in Sunday's 18-15 loss to the Broncos in Week 9. Brooks was surprisingly allotted two consecutive carries at the goal-line in the first quarter and was stuffed by Denver's interior line on both. Those were two of the five running plays called inside the Broncos' two-yard line during the game that failed to get into the end zone, and Houston failed to produce a touchdown in three red-zone possessions. Brooks has four total carries for 15 yards this season and is a regular on special teams.

  • Texans' British Brooks: No usage in Week 8

Brooks played 11 of the Texans' 80 snaps on offense but didn't record any touches in Sunday's 26-15 win over the 49ers. Brooks has been active for five of the Texans' first seven games this season but has been deployed mainly as on the team's kick-coverage and return units, logging nearly three times as many snaps on special teams as offense. The Houston backfield would likely need to lose multiple contributors to injury before Brooks is called upon to play meaningful snaps on offense.

  • Texans' British Brooks: Logs two carries in win

Brooks had two rushes for 15 yards in Sunday's 44-10 win over Baltimore in Week 5. Brooks was one of five running backs for the game and played 11 snaps. Houston won its second consecutive game while running the ball more than passing it, which may explain why so many backs were active. Brooks had been a healthy scratch Weeks 1 and 3 before suiting up the last two games.

  • Texans' British Brooks: On active roster Week 2

Brooks was on the active roster but did not play on offense in Monday's 20-19 loss to the Buccaneers. Brooks was active for the first time in 2025, as the Texans somewhat surprisingly made Dameon Pierce inactive, but he was limited to special teams duty. Nick Chubb performed as the main back, with Woody Marks and Dare Ogunbowale in depth roles.

  • Texans' British Brooks: Undergoes surgery

Brooks underwent knee surgery Thursday to repair a torn meniscus, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Brooks sustained the injury during Week 5's win over the Bills. He is expected to make a full recovery in time for organized team activities next spring.

  • Texans' British Brooks: Leaves game early

Brooks (knee) has exited Sunday's game against the Bills. Brooks has primarily worked on special teams, but he has seen a few snaps on offense with Joe Mixon (ankle) and Dameon Pierce (hamstring) out of action. His absence may lead to extra opportunities for J.J. Taylor
