Williams latched on with the Saints in May and had five tackles this preseason. The Houston product was cut to clear room for quarterback J.T. Barrett, who adds depth at the position while Drew Brees (hand) misses time for surgery.

Williams was waived by the 49ers on Monday, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Williams signed with the 49ers after going undrafted last year, but suffered a knee injury in training camp and was released with an injury settlement. The 22-year-old rejoined the team on a reserve/future contract in January but was let go with a new group of undrafted players set to sign on.

Williams signed a reserve/future contract with the 49ers on Monday, per the NFL's official transaction log.
The rookie out of the University of Houston suffered a knee injury during the preseason and was eventually released with an injury settlement. The 49ers currently have 10 safeties on the roster, so Williams will have an extensive evaluation before getting a chance on the team.
