  Hood (concussion) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's game against the Saints. Hood has not cleared the NFL's five-step concussion protocol in time to suit up for Sunday's game against the Saints. The Giants' reserve cornerback remains unable to participate in full-contact practices and will need to be cleared by an independent neurologist to return to full practice participation in Week 7.

  Hood (concussion) is considered day-to-day ahead of the Giants' matchup with the Saints in Week 6, Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News reports. Hood suffered a concussion during Sunday's 27-27 overtime tie against the Commanders, and he'll have to clear concussion protocol in order to be available for Week 6. If he is unavailable for the team's contest versus New Orleans, Nic Jones could stand to operate as one of New York's starting cornerbacks.

  Hood (quadriceps) was not listed on the Giants' injury report Wednesday. Hood sustained a quadriceps injury during a training camp practice in mid-August. It appears the rookie second-rounder has recovered from the injury based on Wednesday's report, putting him on track to make his NFL regular-season debut Sunday against the Cowboys. He figures to operate in a rotational role in the secondary, with most of his reps coming on special teams.

Hood has been dealing with a quadriceps issue at practice over the last week or so, but he now appears to be on the cusp of returning to action. It's unclear if the cornerback will be able to play in Friday's preseason finale versus the Jets, but he is definitely on track to be good to go for Week 1 versus the Cowboys on Sept. 13.

Per Dan Duggan of The Athletic, Hood was checked on by trainers during Monday's practice session, but the exact nature of the issue is still unknown. As long as he remains unavailable, 2025 seventh-rounder Korie Black could be in line to see an uptick in reps on the boundary.

Hood (6-foot-0, 193 pounds) wasn't widely projected to come off the board ahead of former teammate Jermod McCoy, though the latter DB's medical concerns may have contributed to this outcome. That isn't a knock on Hood's talents. He showcased greater physicality and competitiveness for 50-50 balls than his size might suggest at Tennessee in 2025, and it wouldn't be surprising for him to immediately provide free-agency signee Greg Newsome with competition for the starting outside gig across from Paulson Adebo. Hood's arrival seemingly spells the end of 2023 first-round pick Deonte Banks' developmental tenure with New York.
