    The Giants waived Prentice on Saturday. Prentice joined the Panthers as an undrafted rookie in May but was cut by the team at the start of training camp. Since then, he spent time with the Patriots and Giants before the current transaction. Assuming he goes through waivers unclaimed, he may be destined for a team's practice squad.

Prentice was claimed off waivers by the Patriots in late July after being let go by the Panthers, and he was able to catch four of seven targets for 47 yards over two preseason games with New England before being let go Monday. If the wide receiver clears waivers this time around, he may end up sticking around as a member of the Patriots' practice squad.

As a senior at Baylor last season, the 22-year-old recorded a modest 380 receiving yards, albeit with six touchdowns.

    Prentice signed with the Panthers as an undrafted free agent Thursday, Kassidy Hill of the team's official site reports. Prentice had a decent freshman season at Alabama with a 31-337-2 line over 13 games, but he never really progressed from there, topping out at 380 yards and six touchdowns as a senior at Baylor. He's undersized (5-foot-10, 184 pounds) but showcased 4.37 40-yard dash at his pro day, and he'll need to make an impact on special teams to have a chance at the 53-man roster.
