Fantasy advice from Jamey Eisenberg: Avoid RB Christian McCaffrey -- at all costs

Player Outlook
Smack is a sixth-round draft pick who will compete with Lucas Havrisik to win the Packers' starting kicker job in 2026. With a nonexistent track record, he will be one of the riskier kicker picks on draft day despite playing on an above-average offense. You're better off drafting a slew of kickers before Smack.

  • Packers' Trey Smack: Dazzles in Denver

Smack went 4-of-4 on field goals and 3-of-3 on extra points in Friday's 33-13 preseason victory over the Broncos. Smack made all three field goals he got up -- including a 58-yarder -- in last week's exhibition opener, and the rookie remained perfect thanks to an ever better night that included makes from both 51 and 59 yards out. Packers kickers haven't been particularly fantasy-friendly in recent years, but if Smack remains true from long range he has a chance to change that.

  • Packers' Trey Smack: Packers cut other kicker

Smack is the only kicker left in camp with the Packers, as the team waived Lenny Krieg on Friday. The Packers evidently feel comfortable handing kicking duties over to Smack. The rookie sixth-round pick impressed in college at Florida but will need to prove he's capable of handling the pressure of kicking in the NFL, as well as the cold and windy conditions that arise at Lambeau Field.

  • Packers' Trey Smack: Favorite for No. 1 spot

Smack is not set to compete with new kicker Lenny Krieg after winning the battle against freshly cut competitor Lucas Havrisik. Krieg was likely signed to keep Smack sharp and to have an emergency option if the sixth-round rookie suffers an injury. Packers kicking options in 2025 produced 123 points over 17 regular-season games, with six total 50-plus yard attempts logged during the season. As the favorite for the starting job, Smack is set to inherit all the value associated with the Packers' offensive opportunities in 2026.

  • Packers' Trey Smack: Fellow kicker being let go

With the Packers moving on from Brandon McManus, per Adam Schefter of ESPN, Smack and Lucas Havrisik are the team's current kicking options. Though Havrisik appeared in three regular-season games with the Packers in 2025, Smack is presumably the favorite to emerge as the team's top kicker after the team invested a sixth-round draft pick in the University of Florida product. While working behind Green Bay's offense, Smack should have have a chance to emerge as a fantasy streaming option as a rookie. McManus and Lucas Havrisik combined to record 123 points in 17 regular-season contests with the Packers last year.

  • Packers' Trey Smack: Lands in Green Bay

The Packers selected Smack in the sixth round of the 2026 NFL Draft, 216th overall. Smack joins Green Bay via the final pick of the sixth round as the first kicker off the board in the 2026 NFL Draft. As a freshman with Florida in 2022, he operated in a specialist role before taking over as the Gators' starting kicker from 2023-25, a three-year span in which he compiled an 82.8 percent field-goal conversion rate. Smack boasts a big leg, having converted 10 of 13 field-goal attempts from 50-plus yards, and he'll have an opportunity to compete with Brandon McManus and Lucas Havrisik for the Packers' starting kicker gig this offseason.
