  • Bills' Eli Ankou: Back at practice

Ankou (ankle) participated in Wednesday's practice, Sal Capaccio of WGR Sports Radio 550 Buffalo reports. It's unclear how much Ankou did at practice, but it's encouraging to see him back in action after missing about a week with an ankle issue. The undrafted defensive tackle out of UCLA spent last season on the Bills' practice squad and is battling for a spot on the initial 53-man roster this year.

  • Bills' Eli Ankou: Dealing with injury

Ankou (ankle) will not practice Thursday, Katherine Fitzgerald of The Buffalo News reports. Ankou spent last season on the Bills' practice squad and is working to earn a role on the 53-man roster in camp. It's unclear how significant the injury could be, or how much time he may miss; however, he'll now focus on getting healthy so he can return to the field.

  • Bills' Eli Ankou: Returns to practice Thursday

Ankou (calf) was removed from the Bills' active/PUP list Thursday, Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic reports. Ankou appeared back at practice in full pads for the first time since picking up a calf strain July 24. The 28-year-old played for five teams over his first five seasons, including six games for the Bills from Week 8 onward last year. Ankou totaled nine tackles with one sack during his time with Buffalo in 2021, and he should compete with Brandin Bryant, Prince Emili and C.J. Brewer for a reserve defensive tackle role with the team this preseason.

  • Bills' Eli Ankou: Heads to Buffalo

The Bills will sign Ankou to a contract this week, Jay Skurski of The Buffalo News reports. The Bills have been operating under the max number of roster spots allowed at this point of the offseason, so they'll be adding a few more bodies ahead of training camp next month. Ankou has floated around several NFL rosters and will have a big hill to climb to make the team, as the Bills already are running pretty deep at defensive line and may have a harsh cut or two to make ahead of the season.

  • Eli Ankou: Gets waived

Ankou was waived by the Colts on Saturday. Ankou did not see any time on the field during his stint on the Colts' active roster. Assuming he clears waivers, the 26-year-old will be a prime candidate to land on the team's practice squad.

  • Eli Ankou: Let go by Jacksonville

The Jaguars cut Ankou on Sunday, Phillip Heilman of The Athletic reports. Ankou only played two games last season and made just four tackles, so he was likely a expendable piece on the defensive line. He will hope to latch onto another team to provide depth to a defensive line.

  • Jaguars' Eli Ankou: Inactive Sunday

Ankou (calf) is inactive for Sunday's matchup with the Steelers. Ankou was sidelined last week due to his calf injury and was considered doubtful entering Sunday. Look for Abry Jones to see some extra snaps as the only backup defensive tackle behind Marcell Dareus and Malik Jackson.

  • Jaguars' Eli Ankou: Doubtful once again

Ankou (calf) is doubtful for Sunday's game against the Steelers. Ankou is listed as doubtful for the second straight week as he has yet to return to practice due to his calf injury. The Jaguars' depth at defensive tackle could be tested Sunday with Marcell Dareus (triceps) listed as questionable.

  • Jaguars' Eli Ankou: Inactive Week 10

Ankou (calf) is inactive for Sunday's matchup with Indianapolis. Ankou was listed as doubtful entering Sunday's game, so his inactive status is no surprise. Ankou hasn't played at all this season, and his absence shouldn't have much impact, if any, on the defense.

  • Jaguars' Eli Ankou: Unlikely to play Sunday

Ankou (calf) is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game against the Colts, Phillip Heilman of The Florida Times-Union reports. Ankou began the week as a limited practice participant but was unable to practice Thursday and Friday. The 24-year-old has not been active for a game yet this season, so he was unlikely to be a factor Sunday even if healthy.

  • Jaguars' Eli Ankou: No practice Thursday

Ankou (calf) did not practice Thursday. Ankou appears to be nursing a calf injury of undisclosed severit, and should be considered questionable for Sunday's game against the Colts. Given that Ankou has been a healthy scratch for each of the Jaguars' first nine games this season, it's unlikely that his absence would have a notable impact on the team's defense.
