Aubrey agreed to terms Monday on a four-year, $28 million contract extension with the Cowboys that includes $20 million guaranteed, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Aubrey's new deal with Dallas is record-setting, and as Adam Schefter of ESPN reports makes him the first kicker in NFL history to earn $7 million annually on average. Across 17 regular-season appearances in 2025, Aubrey converted 36 of his 42 field-goal attempts and was especially clutch from 50-plus yards, going 11-for-17. The Cowboys initially assigned Aubrey a second-round tender as a placeholder to work out a long-term deal.

After finishing first in fantasy points among NFL kickers in 2023 and second in 2024, Aubrey finished third in 2025 behind only Jason Myers and Ka'imi Fairbairn. He remained all but automatic for the purposes of PATs, but he was a bit less accurate from distance compared to his 2022 and 2023 numbers, especially down the stretch, when he hit just two of his six attempts of 50-plus yards during the final four games of the season. Aubrey showed he was ready for the regular season with another jaw-dropping kick, as he drilled a 64-yard FG right at the end of the first half. Heading into his third NFL season, the Notre Dame product remains the league's preeminent kicker from long distance after converting 14 of 17 attempts from 50 yards or longer in 2024. If Dak Prescott can stay healthy and lead the Cowboys' offense to a better overall performance this year, it might turn some of those desperation FGs into PATs, but Aubrey figures to be extremely productive regardless -- after leading the league with 157 points as a rookie in 2023, he finished second behind Pittsburgh's Chris Boswell last year with 150.
