  • Chargers' Amar Johnson: Inks futures deal with Bolts

The Chargers signed Johnson to a reserve/future contract Tuesday. Johnson caught on with the Chargers' practice squad in late August after failing to make the Packers' 53-man roster at the end of training camp. He was elevated to the Chargers' active roster in Weeks 9 and 11 and logged two carries for eight yards while failing to haul in his lone target. The South Dakota State product will be a member of the Chargers' 90-man roster at the start of the NFL offseason Feb. 9, which will allow him to participate in OTAs and minicamp.

  • Chargers' Amar Johnson: Elevated for Week 11

The Chargers elevated Johnson from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday. It's the second time Johnson has been elevated to the Bolts' active roster this season. He'll be available for Sunday's game against the Jaguars, when he'll join Trayveon Williams as the Chargers' rotational running backs behind Kimani Vidal. Johnson played in Week 9 against the Titans, but he was limited to just three snaps on special teams.

  • Amar Johnson: Reverts to Bolts' practice squad

Johnson reverted to the Chargers' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log. With Hassan Haskins (hamstring) placed on injured reserve Saturday, Johnson and fellow practice squad running back Jaret Patterson were both elevated to the active roster for the Chargers' Week 9 win over the Titans to provide backfield depth behind Kimani Vidal. It was Patterson (nine carries for 44 yards) who ended up serving in a complementary role to Vidal (12 carries for 30 yards), while Johnson saw the field for just three snaps on special teams without showing up on the box score otherwise. With Haskins, Omarion Hampton (ankle) and Najee Harris (Achilles) all on injured reserve, Johnson and Patterson could both be called up from the practice squad and suit up for the Chargers' Week 10 clash against Steelers this Sunday.

  • Amar Johnson: Gets opportunity with Chargers

The Chargers signed Johnson to their practice squad Sunday. Johnson was with Green Bay throughout training camp before getting waived on cutdown day. The South Dakota State product will now get a chance to develop on the Chargers' practice squad after going unselected in April's NFL Draft.

  • Packers' Amar Johnson: Scores in exhibition opener

Johnson had seven carries for 67 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 30-10 preseason loss to the Jets. The undrafted rookie fared well in his first appearance as a professional and capped his night with a 39-yard touchdown run. He is a long shot to secure a roster spot, but if he can maintain the momentum he could wind up on Green Bay's practice squad.
