  • Saints' Julian Blackmon: Back to practice

Blackmon (knee) was a participant in Sunday's practice, Ross Jackson of WWL Louisiana reports. Blackmon exited Saturday's practice session early due to a knee issue but is already back in action for Sunday's session. The safety underwent further testing, with the determination evidently being that the issue was minor. The free safety's health means he can continue to compete with Jonas Sanker for the starting job.

  • Saints' Julian Blackmon: Leaves practice with knee injury

Blackmon was removed from Saturday's training camp practice due to a knee injury, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports. Blackmon will undergo further tests to determine the severity of his injury and determine a recovery plan. The seventh-year safety played only in Week 1 of the 2025 season and spent the rest of the year on the IR due to a torn labrum. Blackmon and Jonas Sanker are competing for a starting spot at safety next to Justin Reid.

  • Saints' Julian Blackmon: Participating in minicamp

Blackmon (shoulder) is participating in minicamp, Ross Jackson of LouisianaSports.net reports. The safety played in just one game in 2025 due to a shoulder injury, but he nonetheless re-signed with the Saints in January. Blackmon recorded 86 tackles with the Colts in 2024.

  • Saints' Julian Blackmon: Staying in New Orleans

The Saints re-signed Blackmon (shoulder) to a one-year deal Tuesday, Ross Jackson of WWL Louisiana reports. The 27-year-old from Utah signed a one-year deal with the Saints last offseason but played in just one game in 2025 due to a shoulder injury. Blackmon appeared in 16 games for the Colts in 2024, recording 86 total tackles, including 0.5 sacks, and four passes defensed, including three interceptions. Now back with the Saints, the veteran safety will likely start alongside Justin Reid in 2026.

  • Saints' Julian Blackmon: Officially lands on IR

The Saints placed Blackmon (shoulder) on injured reserve Saturday, Matthew Paras of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports. The first-year Saint sustained a torn labrum in the Week 1 loss to the Cardinals, so it's no surprise he moved to IR on Saturday. Blackmon was one of New Orleans' top defensive playmakers in Week 1, recording seven total tackles and one pass defended across 61 defensive snaps. With Blackmon likely out for the remainder of the season, Jonas Sanker projects to start at free safety.

  • Saints' Julian Blackmon: Will undergo surgery

Blackmon will undergo surgery to address the shoulder injury he suffered during Sunday's 20-13 loss versus the Cardinals, Matthew Paras of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports. Blackmon was feared to have suffered a torn labrum after he left New Orleans' regular-season debut early, and now it looks like he'll miss extended time as he recovers. In his absence, rookie third-rounder Jonas Sanker becomes a candidate to start at safety next to Justin Reid.

  • Saints' Julian Blackmon: Officially headed to New Orleans

Blackmon and the Saints agreed on a one-year contract Wednesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Blackmon will officially head to New Orleans, helping fill the void in the team's secondary after Tyrann Mathieu retired Tuesday. Blackmon appears to have fully recovered from his offseason shoulder surgery, and he'll now compete with Jonas Sanker and J.T. Gray for the team's starting free safety role. The 26-year-old has recorded 174 combined tackles over the last two years, and he'll look to maintain that level of production with the Saints.

  • Colts' Julian Blackmon: Gets second interception of season

Blackmon recorded five tackles (five solo) and an interception during Sunday's 25-24 win at New England. Blackmon's interception came in the red zone late in the third quarter to preserve a 17-16 Colts lead. He's locked into an every-down role at safety, keeping him on the IDP radar in some formats for the fantasy playoffs after Indianapolis' bye in Week 14.

Blackmon recorded nine total tackles (five solo) in Sunday's 16-10 win over the Dolphins. Blackmon finished with his highest tackle total since Week 1, finishing third on the team in stops behind Grant Stuard and Zaire Franklin. • Colts' Julian Blackmon: Grabs interception in win

  • Colts' Julian Blackmon: Dealing with shoulder issue

Blackmon (shoulder) didn't participate in Wednesday's practice. Indianapolis' top strong safety logged 13 total tackles during the team's Week 1 loss, but it appears he may have sustained a shoulder injury in that effort. Blackmon's practice participation Thursday and Friday will provide a better indication of whether the 26-year-old will be able to suit up for the Colts in Week 2.

  • Colts' Julian Blackmon: Productive in loss

Blackmon recorded 13 tackles (10 solo) in Sunday's 29-27 loss to the Texans. Blackmon led the defense with 10 solo stops, although he was second to Nick Cross in total tackles. Despite the loss, it was a productive day from a fantasy perspective for the Utah product, who will look to carry over that momentum into Week 2 against the Packers.

  • Colts' Julian Blackmon: Staying with Indy

Blackmon is slated to return to the Colts on a one-year deal, Jordan Schultz of BleacherReport.com reports. During the 2023 regular season Blackmon recorded 88 tackles, four interceptions and two fumble recoveries in 15 games with the Colts. Now that he's back with the team and presumably past a late-season shoulder issue, the 2020 third-rounder is poised to maintain his key role in Indy's secondary and occupy a starting safety slot in 2024.

  • Colts' Julian Blackmon: Impressive numbers in contract year

Blackmon (shoulder) racked up 88 tackles (65 solo), eight passes defensed with four interceptions and two fumble recoveries across 15 regular-seasongames with the Colts in 2023. Blackmon missed the last two games of the year due to a shoulder injury, and Indianapolis' secondary suffered for it, especially in the team's season-ending playoff loss to the Texans. The safety tallied career-high marks across the board in the final year of his rookie contract, emerging as one of the more dependable players in the Colts' secondary. If Indianapolis doesn't ultimately re-sign Blackmon, he won't have a shortage of interest on the free-agent market.

  • Colts' Julian Blackmon: Goes to IR

Indianapolis placed Blackmon (shoulder) on its injured reserve list Tuesday, James Boyd of The Athletic reports. The move means Blackmon will miss the final two weeks of the regular season and won't be eligible to return until the week of the AFC Championship at the earliest. In the meantime, 2022 third-rounder Nick Cross will probably fill in at safety.

  • Colts' Julian Blackmon: Won't return Sunday

Blackmon (shoulder) has been ruled out for the remainder of Sunday's game against the Falcons. Blackmon exited in the first half with the injury and was originally considered questionable to return. • Colts' Julian Blackmon: Logs second interception

Blackman recorded five tackles (four solo), an interception and an additional pass deflection during Indianapolis' 39-38 loss to the Browns on Sunday. The 25-year-old now has two interceptions on the season to go along with 50 tackles (15 solo).

  • Colts' Julian Blackmon: Racks up 10 tackles Week 2

Blackmon logged 10 tackles (seven solo) against the Texans in Sunday's Week 2 victory. Blackmon ranked second on Indianapolis in stops behind Zaire Franklin, who tallied 13. Blackmon has played on every defensive snap for the Colts through two weeks and has totaled 15 tackles. He set a career high with 50 stops over 14 contests last season.

  • Colts' Julian Blackmon: Five tackles in season opener

Blackmon started at strong safety and had five tackles in Sunday's loss to Jacksonville. Blackmon had an off day in coverage by allowing three receptions on four targets for 42 yards, according to Pro Football Focus. However, he enters the regular season healthy after missing time in training camp to a hamstring injury. Blackmon played all 70 snaps on defense. A return to full strength is a good sign since he's struggled to stay on the field. The 2020 third-rounder was limited to six games in 2021 due to an Achilles injury, and last season he missed three games and parts of another due to an ankle injury.
