  • Jets' Irvin Charles: Moved to reserve/PUP list

The Jets placed Charles (knee) on the reserve/PUP list Tuesday. Charles will be required to miss a minimum of four games to start the 2025 season after being placed on the reserve/PUP list. The 28-year-old wideout tore his ACL in Week 14 last season and is not ready to return to the field as he continues to recover.

  • Jets' Irvin Charles: Ends up on active/PUP list

Charles (knee) was placed on the active/PUP list by the Jets on Saturday. The wide receiver and special teamer tore his ACL in Week 14 of the 2024 campaign and ended the season on injured reserve. It remains unclear if he'll be ready for the start of the 2025 campaign, though he can return from the PUP list once he's ready to practice. Charles has played on more than 200 special-teams snaps in each of his two seasons with the Jets.

  • Jets' Irvin Charles: Officially back with Gang Green

Charles (knee) re-signed with the Jets on Friday, Howard Balzer of USA Today reports. Charles entered the offseason as an exclusive-rights free agent and was tendered by the Jets in early March, so Friday's signing was essentially a formality. Charles tore his ACL in Week 14 of last season and finished the year on IR, and it's not clear if he'll be ready to play by the start of the 2025 campaign. He did most of his work last season on special teams, logging 212 snaps with that unit versus just nine on offense over 13 games.

  • Jets' Irvin Charles: Will stay a Jet

The Jets tendered Charles (knee) on Friday, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports. Charles suffered a torn ACL in Week 14 against the Dolphins, but the Jets seem to have hope he'll be able to return to action at some point in 2025. He played nearly all of his snaps in 2024 on special teams and projects to play a similar role in the upcoming campaign.

  • Jets' Irvin Charles: Officially moves to IR

The Jets placed Charles (knee) on injured reserve Wednesday, Ethan Greenberg of the team's official site reports. The move was a foregone conclusion, as Charles suffered an ACL injury Sunday against Miami and won't return to action this season. He finishes the campaign with no catches on one target over nine offensive snaps. Charles' absence will be primarily felt on special teams, as he was a key part of that unit for New York this season.

  • Jets' Irvin Charles: Leaves game due to knee injury

Charles (knee) has been ruled out for the rest of Sunday's game against the Dolphins, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports. Charles injured his knee early in the fourth quarter. He's serving in a depth role at wide receiver and did not record a target before leaving Sunday's game.

  • Jets' Irvin Charles: Gets first target of season

Charles didn't catch his only target in Sunday's 37-15 loss to the Steelers. Charles made a valiant effort on his first target of the season, nearly getting both knees down on a low catch in the back of the end zone, but it looked like he couldn't quite maintain control on his way to the ground. His spot on the roster is safe thanks to Charles' contributions as the gunner on special teams, but Charles has been targeted on offense only twice in 19 NFL games.

  • Jets' Irvin Charles: Fades injury report

Charles (hip) was not listed on the Jets' injury report Thursday, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports. Charles sustained a hip injury during the Jets' second preseason game against the Panthers. He was held out of the preseason finale against the Giants, but Charles appears to be over the injury and will suit up for Monday's regular-season opener against the 49ers.

  • Jets' Irvin Charles: Injures hip in preseason game

Charles is questionable to return to Saturday's exhibition contest against Carolina due to a hip injury. Charles didn't draw a target before getting hurt, and it's unclear if he'll be able to reenter the game. The 6-foot-4 wideout has had a strong camp and has a solid chance of making the 53-man roster if the toe issue doesn't prove to be serious. As with last year, Charles may see most of his work on special teams if he does make the cut, though it's certainly possible that he could get more opportunities on offense this season.

  • Jets' Irvin Charles: First career target in Week 18

Charles didn't catch his lone target in Sunday's 17-3 win over the Patriots. Charles saw his first career target in the season finale but didn't catch it. He dressed in 12 games for the Jets but played almost exclusively on special teams. Charles added a special teams tackle in the win over New England, bringing his season total in that category to seven (six solo).

  • Jets' Irvin Charles: Limited to special teams

Charles played all 23 of his snaps on special teams in Sunday's 13-8 loss to the Falcons. Though he was active ahead of Randall Cobb as the Jets' No. 5 receiver, Charles was relegated exclusively to a special-teams role while Garrett Wilson, Xavier Gipson, Jason Brownlee (ankle) and Allen Lazard handled all the available wideout snaps. Even if the injury Brownlee sustained forces him to miss this Sunday's game against the Texans, Cobb -- if active -- may get the nod over Charles as the No. 4 option at receiver.

  • Jets' Irvin Charles: Inactive for Week 8

Charles (shoulder) won't play in Sunday's matchup with the Giants. Charles is dealing with a shoulder injury that forced him to sit out practice Friday after logging a pair of limited sessions to begin Week 8 prep. He came into the weekend considered doubtful to play, so it's no surprise that he'll sit out the rivalry game against the Giants. Charles has played just seven offensive snaps without logging any stats over two games for the Jets, so his absence will primarily impact the team's special-teams unit.

  • Jets' Irvin Charles: Added to active roster

The Jets elevated Charles from the practice squad Saturday. Charles spent the preseason with the Jets before being waived as part of the team's final roster cuts in late August. The undrafted wideout has spent the entirety of his rookie campaign on the team's practice squad, and he's now in line to make his NFL debut during Sunday's regular-season finale against Miami. Charles, who caught four passes for 27 yards during the preseason, will likely slot into a deep reserve role alongside Braxton Berrios and Denzel Mims.
