Player Outlook
Allen remains the consensus top QB in Fantasy after his sixth consecutive season averaging at least 25.9 Fantasy points in six-point TD leagues, excluding meaningless games he didn't play much in (like Week 18 of 2025). He's coming off a year with career highs in completion rate (69.3%) and yards per attempt (8.0), and the team added veteran wide receiver D.J. Moore, who previously boosted his quarterbacks' numbers in Carolina and Chicago and should help Allen in Buffalo. You could make the case for other quarterbacks to go first at the position, but Allen has the longevity, the rushing prowess (500-plus rush yards and 12-plus rushing touchdowns each of the past three years with Joe Brady as playcaller), and an improved receiver room to back up his case as the No. 1 quarterback. Late Round 2 in one-QB leagues feels like the earliest he should be taken, while Allen is the easy first overall pick in any format that uses multiple starting quarterbacks.

  • Bills' Josh Allen: Logs one appearance in preseason

Allen made one appearance during the Bills' three-game preseason schedule. Allen suited up for a preseason Week 1 matchup with the Panthers on Aug. 15 and led two scoring drives, completing six of eight passes for 111 yards and one touchdown. His final connection with Keon Coleman resulted in a nine-yard touchdown, after which Allen's exhibition action came to a close. The cameo displayed that Allen already was in midseason form, and he'll be aiming to get back to 4,000 yards through the air in 2026 for the first time since doing so in four consecutive campaigns from 2020-23. He'll be aided in that quest by the offseason addition of WR DJ Moore.

  • Bills' Josh Allen: Will sit Thursday night

Allen will not play in Thursday's preseason finale against the Steelers, Jay Skurski of The Buffalo News reports. It comes as no surprise that Allen will be held out, as the Bills will ensure their starting quarterback -- and the consensus top quarterback in fantasy football -- does not take any further hits before Week 1. Allen hasn't missed a game since his rookie campaign in 2018, making 137 consecutive starts between the regular season and playoffs, tied for the eighth-longest streak by a quarterback in NFL history.

  • Bills' Josh Allen: Will sit Saturday

Allen will sit for Saturday's preseason game against the Browns, Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network reports. Allen played in the preseason opener against the Panthers on Saturday, Aug. 15, when he completed six of eight passes for 111 yards and a touchdown in a 29-14 win. However, it looks like the superstar quarterback and other key skill position players will be sidelined against Cleveland. It's unclear whether Allen will also be held out of the Bills' preseason finale against the Steelers this upcoming Thursday.

  • Bills' Josh Allen: Finds end zone in preseason opener

Allen completed six of eight passes for 111 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 29-14 preseason win over the Panthers. Getting the start in the Bills' preseason opener, Allen played the entire first quarter and led his team on two scoring drives, the second of which ended in a nine-yard TD strike to Keon Coleman. Allen didn't run the ball, but the 30-year-old quarterback is saving his legs for the regular season after scoring at least 12 rushing TDs each of the last three years and topping 500 rushing yards each of the last five.

  • Bills' Josh Allen: In line to play Saturday

Head coach Joe Brady said Thursday that Allen and the rest of Buffalo's healthy starters will play in Saturday's preseason opener against the Panthers, Maddy Glab of the Bills' official site reports. Brady added that he wants Allen to be competitive but mindful Saturday, per Glab. Allen is expected to start Saturday's preseason game but probably won't play more than a few series before giving way to backups Kyle Allen and Shane Buechele.

  • Bills' Josh Allen: Healthy for OTAs

Coach Joe Brady said Tuesday that Allen is "good to go" after the quarterback underwent foot surgery in the offseason, Sal Capaccio of WGR Sports Radio 550 Buffalo reports. Allen reported soreness after Week 16 last season that eventually proved to be a fracture of the fifth metatarsal in his right foot. The procedure was performed after the Bills' divisional-round loss in Denver, and he's on track for an expected recovery time of 8-to-10 weeks. Allen is coming off another fantastic season in which he completed a career-best 69.3 percent of his passes for 3,668 yards, 25 touchdowns and 10 interceptions while rushing 112 times for 579 yards and 14 more TDs in 17 regular-season games. Now that his health isn't a concern, he can begin building chemistry with the Bills' most notable offseason addition, wideout DJ Moore.

  • Bills' Josh Allen: Wearing walking boot

Allen (foot) is sporting crutches and a walking boot at new head coach Joe Brady's introductory press conference Thursday, Lance Lysowski of The Buffalo News reports. GM Brandon Beane said Wednesday that Allen may require an offseason procedure on his right foot, but the star quarterback's availability for the offseason program won't be impacted if he does go under the knife. Allen's use of a walking boot and crutches one day later could be quiet confirmation that such a procedure has already been scheduled or accomplished. The 29-year-old initially injured his foot in Week 16, resulting in lingering soreness that he dealt with until the end of the 2025 campaign. Prior to Buffalo's loss to Denver in the divisional round, Allen also dealt with injuries to his left knee and right finger. In any case, all expectations are that Allen will be ready to take the field with his teammates by the start of OTAs in May, providing plenty of time to adjust to the first change at head coach he's seen in his eight-year NFL career.

  • Bills' Josh Allen: May need offseason foot procedure

Bills GM Brandon Beane noted Wednesday that Allen may need a procedure done on his right foot, but if that is the case, the QB's availability for OTAs would not be impacted, Maddy Glab of the Bills' official site reports. Per ESPN.com, Allen initially hurt his foot during Week 16 action, which resulted in soreness that lingered in subsequent weeks. Additionally, Allen managed issues with his left knee and right finger following the Bills' wild-card win over the Jaguars. In terms of a possible foot procedure for Allen, Beane did not provide a timeline Wednesday for when that might occur. Either way, Allen has time to recover from his injuries before his team returns to the field, at which time he'll be working with a new head coach following the dismissal of Sean McDermott in the wake of Buffalo's divisional-round loss to the Broncos.

  • Bills' Josh Allen: Carries Buffalo to divisional round

Allen completed 28 of 35 passes for 273 yards and a touchdown while adding 33 rushing yards and two TDs on 11 carries in the Bills' 27-24 win over the Jaguars during the wild-card round on Sunday. The superstar quarterback put Buffalo on his back once again, producing two of his three scores in the fourth quarter as the two teams traded the lead back and forth, including a one-yard plunge into the end zone with 1:04 left on the clock for the game-winning touchdown. Allen took a beating from the Jacksonville defense during the contest however, getting checked out in the blue medical tent twice, and he was seen limping in the locker room after the game per Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic. The Bills won't know who they're playing until after the weekend's games are over, but Allen will almost certainly play through whatever injuries he might have on the road in the divisional round. He's produced multiple TDs in five of his last six full games dating back to Week 13, racking up 14 scores (eight passing, six rushing) in total during that time with only two turnovers.

  • Bills' Josh Allen: Clear for Sunday

Allen (foot) doesn't have a designation for Sunday's game against the Jets. Allen has played through discomfort in his right foot the last two games, a span in which he completed 35 of 54 passes (64.8 percent) for 392 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions while rushing 14 times for 44 yards and two TDs and fumbling twice (one lost). After sitting out practice Wednesday and Thursday, he returned to a limited session Friday, which was enough for the Bills to clear him ahead of the weekend. It remains to be seen how much, if at all, Allen plays this weekend, but he does have a 121-game starting streak on the line, and based on results this weekend the Bills can climb from their current No. 7 seed in the AFC to either No. 5 or No. 6. Backup QB Mitchell Trubisky is on hand for any reps that don't go to Allen on Sunday.

  • Bills' Josh Allen: Bust Alert (Start/Sit)

As of Wednesday afternoon, we don't know how much Allen will play in Week 18 against the Jets. He's expected to take Buffalo's first snap to extend his streak of consecutive regular-season starts to 122, the longest active run among NFL quarterbacks. But it would be a surprise if Allen played much since the Bills need help to improve their playoff standing from the No. 7 seed. That said, Allen won't have to play much to still have a big Fantasy outing against the Jets, who are No. 3 in most Fantasy points allowed to opposing quarterbacks. But Buffalo could also beat the Jets with Mitch Trubisky at quarterback, and Allen could use the rest since he's dealing with a foot injury. I would look for another Fantasy quarterback in Week 18.

  • Bills' Josh Allen: Postgame X-rays negative

Allen (foot) underwent X-rays after Sunday's 13-12 loss to the Eagles and received negative results, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Allen began Week 17 as a limited participant at practice due to soreness in his right foot, but he upgraded to full reps by Friday and played the entire game Sunday. It's possible that Allen's postgame X-rays were merely precautionary, rather than indicative of a setback. With the Bills already locked into a wild-card spot but having no chance of catching the Patriots for the AFC East title, the star signal-caller could be shut down for the regular-season finale against the Jets in Week 18.

  • Bills' Josh Allen: Late comeback attempt falls short

Allen completed 23 of 35 pass attempts for 262 yards while rushing seven times for 27 yards and two touchdowns with one fumble lost in Sunday's 13-12 loss to the Eagles. Philadelphia's staunch defense held Buffalo's offense scoreless through three quarters before Allen put the team on his back and punched in a pair of late scores to give his team life. A blocked PAT after the first touchdown created a tough decision for head coach Sean McDermott on the ensuing point-after scenario with the game and AFC East division title hopes on the line. The Bills declined the opportunity to send the game to overtime, instead opting to go for two following Allen's second trip to the end zone. There wasn't enough magic left in the normally clutch superstar's tank when his final pass of the game sailed out of the reach of WR Khalil Shakir as the Eagles took the field to celebrate the narrow win. Allen performed well on an individual level despite playing through a minor foot injury Sunday. The 29-year-old threw for his most yards since Week 11 while posting multiple rushing scores for the fifth time this season. The loss drops Buffalo down to the AFC's seventh seed as the team prepares to finish the regular season against the Jets in Week 18.

  • Bills' Josh Allen: No injury designation for Week 17

Allen (foot) practiced in full Friday and does not carry an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Eagles. Allen is fully on track for Sunday's showdown at home versus Philadelphia, which is little surprise after head coach Sean McDermott said Friday that the star quarterback's right foot soreness dissipated throughout the practice week, as Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.com reports. It doesn't appear as though Allen's mobility or rushing capabilities will be hampered by injury in any notable way Week 17.

  • Bills' Josh Allen: In line to play Sunday

Coach Sean McDermott noted Friday that Allen (foot) is feeling better each day and is slated to play Sunday against the Eagles, Maddy Glab of the Bills' official site reports. Allen was listed as limited in Wednesday's walkthrough and also on Thursday's practice estimate. Friday's injury report thus will reveal whether the star QB upgrades to full participation, but based on McDermott's comments, Allen is trending toward heading into the weekend without a Week 17 injury designation.

  • Bills' Josh Allen: Estimated as limited Thursday

Allen (foot) was listed as limited on Thursday's practice estimate. Allen also was deemed limited in Wednesday's walkthrough, and the Bills didn't hold practice Thursday, with the QB now having one more chance to log a full listing before the Bills' Week 17 injury designations are assigned Friday. For his part, Allen plans to play Sunday against the Eagles, per Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.com, but it remains to be seen if he ends up listed as questionable for the contest or fully cleared to face 10-5 Philadelphia.

  • Bills' Josh Allen: Day-to-day with sore foot

Coach Sean McDermott said Allen is considered day-to-day with a sore right foot, but he's expected to play Sunday against the Eagles, Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.com reports. Allen briefly exited Sunday's win over the Browns late in the second quarter and went to the locker room early, but he didn't miss any offensive snaps. He finished the day with 12 completions on 19 pass attempts for 130 scoreless yards. He rushed seven times for 17 yards. It would be a shock if Allen isn't under center Week 17 against Philadelphia.

  • Bills' Josh Allen: Game-manager role in win

Allen completed 12 of 19 passes for 130 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions while adding seven rushes for 17 yards in the Bills' 23-20 win over the Browns on Sunday. As his final line implies, Allen was only a complementary figure in the tougher-than-expected road win, and he also had an injury scare that required X-rays on his foot before being cleared to return to the game, per Adam Schefter of ESPN. The Bills largely relied on James Cook's exploits on the ground and timely defense, leading to Allen's second-lowest passing yardage total of the season and third sub-200-yard tally in the last four games. Allen figures to be a lot busier during a Week 17 home showdown against the Eagles next Sunday.

  • Bills' Josh Allen: Another three-score day Sunday

Allen completed 23 of 26 pass attempts for 273 yards and a touchdown while taking six carries for 19 yards and two more scores in Sunday's 28-21 win over Kansas City. Allen turned in similar results in the box score to last week's three-score showing against the Panthers, when he threw for a touchdown while cashing in two more from in close with his legs. Unlike his last outing, the 29-year-old was more involved as a passer in Sunday's statement win, finishing with his second-highest yardage total this season while out-dueling Patrick Mahomes in the process. Allen has seen his passing volume take a hit in 2025 as the Bills feature a more run-heavy offense. His current pace projects to 3,895 passing yards, which would result in consecutive seasons finishing below 4,000 yards for the first time since his first two years in the league. Allen has helped offset his more timid presence in the pocket with a whopping seven rushing scores in eight appearances. Look for the good times to continue rolling for Allen in a soft matchup against the Dolphins next Sunday.

  • Bills' Josh Allen: Rings up three TDs in win

Allen completed 12 of 19 passes for 163 yards with a touchdown and no interceptions while adding three rushes for seven yards and another two scores in the Bills' 40-9 win over the Panthers on Sunday. Allen's modest passing numbers were a direct byproduct of how the game unfolded, as the Bills ultimately didn't need to put to much on the shoulders of their MVP. James Cook and the defense helped ensure a relatively easy day at the office for Allen with their exploits, but the star signal-caller still delivered for fantasy managers via a 54-yard touchdown pass to Khalil Shakir early in the third quarter, as well as a pair of one-yard scoring runs in the second and third quarters. Allen has multiple touchdowns in all but one game heading into a Week 9 home showdown with Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs next Sunday afternoon.
