  • Titans' Tommy Townsend: Heads to AFC South foe

    Townsend agreed to terms Tuesday on a two-year, $6 million contract with the Titans, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Townsend is a six-year veteran who most recently spent two seasons with the Texans. In 2025, the Florida product averaged 47.6 yards per punt (13th) while landing 30 punts inside the 20-yard line (third).

  • Texans' Tommy Townsend: Changing teams

    Townsend is in line to sign a two-year, $6 million deal with the Texans on Wednesday after spending his first four seasons with the Chiefs, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. The punter was a First Team All-Pro in 2022, when he averaged 50.4 yards per punt. Townsend has never finished with an average yards-per-punt number lower than 45.0.

    Townsend signed his one-year tender with the Chiefs on Wednesday. Townsend was a restricted free agent and will now officially return to Kansas City for the 2023 campaign. The 26-year-old is the only punter currently on the Kansas City roster and is coming off a season in which he averaged a career-high 45.6 net yards per punt.
