Phillips was cut from the Eagles' practice squad Wednesday. Phillips' departure comes as Philadelphia opted to sign Siaki Ika to its practice squad. The 27-year-old has yet to appear in a game this season, but he did suit up five times for the Saints last year. He'll now have to work to find another opportunity.

The Saints signed Phillips on Monday. Phillips had previously worked out with New Orleans last week and will now officially join the team. The 26-year-old has not appeared in a game since 2021 due to injury. Now healthy again, Phillips will look to compete for a spot as a reserve defender.

Phillips was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Monday as a result of testing positive for the virus, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. • Jets' Kyle Phillips: Shifts to IR, as expected

Phillips (ankle) was placed on injured reserve Wednesday and won't return this season, Ethan Greenberg of the Jets' official site reports. Phillips underwent season-ending surgery Tuesday. While the exact nature of his injury is unclear, the second-year defensive end out of Tennessee is expected to make a full recovery for the 2021 season. Phillips produced 11 tackles over seven games this year while averaging 25 defensive snaps per game. John Franklin-Myers, Nathan Shepherd and Jabari Zuniga should absorb the reps left behind by Phillips.

  • Jets' Kyle Phillips: Gets hurt Sunday

Phillips is doubtful to return to Sunday's game against Buffalo with an ankle injury, Ralph Vacchiano of SportsNet New York reports. Phillips was forced to leave the game early in the second quarter, as the specifics of the injury remain unclear. As long as the Tennessee product is sidelined, look for an uptick in snaps at defensive end going to Nathan Shepherd and John Franklin-Myers.
