  • T.Y. McGill: Released by Minnesota

    The Vikings released McGill (ankle) on Monday, Ben Goessling of the Star Tribune reports. McGill sprained his right ankle during the team's preseason finale against the Broncos and is expected to be sidelined for one or two weeks. Despite a strong preseason, the injury made it difficult for the Vikings to keep the veteran defensive tackle on their initial 53-man roster. He appeared in two contests with the Vikings last year, totaling one tackle and one pass defense across 33 defensive snaps.

    The Eagles activated McGill from the reserve/COVID-19 list and subsequently cut him Monday. McGill appeared in seven games for the Eagles last season and totaled nine tackles. The 28-year-old has spent time with the Colts, Browns, Chargers and Eagles during his six years in the NFL.

    The Eagles signed McGill from their practice squad Saturday. McGill reverted to the practice squad Dec. 1 after making his fifth appearance of the 2020 campaign Week 12 against the Seahawks. The 28-year-old received a steady defensive workload of 14-to-16 snaps in each of those outings, collecting four tackles, two QB hits and half a sack. He'll provide interior depth along the defensive line as Philadelphia aims to keep postseason hopes alive with a Week 16 road win over Dallas.
