Russell played in two games for the Saints last season, only appearing on special teams. He was originally a third-round selection of Kansas City in 2016 but was cut during training camp that year and then spent three seasons with the Bengals, never appearing in more than eight games. Russell will now work to find a new team for the 2022 season.
