McDermott spent all of last season on the Rams' injured reserve list but is presumably now healthy. The veteran tackle has 55 career regular-season games (including 17 starts) under his belt across stints with the Bills, Jets and Patriots.

McDermott joined the Patriots' practice squad Oct. 17 after reaching an injury settlement with the team Sept. 8. With offensive tackles Calvin Anderson (illness) and Tyrone Wheatley (knee) both on IR, McDermott will provide depth behind Mike Onwenu and Trent Brown.
