  • Seth Jones D | FLA

Panthers' Seth Jones: Multi-assist effort in defeat

Jones set up both of Sam Reinhart's goals in Monday's 5-3 loss to Buffalo.

Jones logged 23:55 of ice time, including over four minutes on the power play, and picked up his first assists of the year. The two-helper showing was a nice step for a blueliner who entered the night with just one point in five games to open the year. Given his heavy power-play usage, Jones should start producing more consistently in the future.

  • Panthers' Anton Lundell: Scores first goal of season

Lundell scored on three shots in Monday's 5-3 loss to the Sabres.

Lundell's first-period tally, assisted by Aaron Ekblad and Sandis Vilmanis, pulled Florida even at 1-1 before Buffalo answered with the eventual game-winning sequence. It was the 25-year-old Lundell's first goal of the young campaign, giving him two points on the year.

  • Sam Reinhart C | FLA

Panthers' Sam Reinhart: Nets two in loss

Reinhart scored twice on two shots in Monday's 5-3 road loss to Buffalo.

Reinhart opened the scoring in the second period with a power-play tally before adding another with the man advantage in the third to briefly tie the game at 3-3. Both goals came with assists from Seth Jones, and Reinhart finally got on the scoresheet this season. He'll look to build on this multi-goal effort when the Panthers continue their road trip in Columbus on Tuesday.

  • Akira Schmid G | FLA

Panthers' Akira Schmid: Loses relief outing

Schmid fell to the Sabres 5-3 after coming on in the second period and stopping 18 of 21 shots.

Schmid was pressed into service after Jacob Markstrom stayed in the locker room after the first period. The 26-year-old Schmid has now made two appearances for the Panthers, suffering defeats in both outings. With the team back in action versus Columbus on Tuesday, Schmid may have to do double duty on short notice.

  • Panthers' Jacob Markstrom: Exits after first period

Markstrom didn't come out for the second period of Monday's road matchup with Buffalo, stopping nine of 11 shots on net.

Markstrom was replaced by Akira Schmid, who would take the loss despite making 18 saves while conceding three goals. If the 36-year-old Markstrom doesn't have a serious injury, it's possible that he gets the nod for Tuesday's clash with the Blue Jackets since he only played one period.

  • Sharks' Barclay Goodrow: Dealing with illness

Goodrow (illness) didn't participate in Monday's practice, Curtis Pashelka of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

San Jose is hopeful Goodrow will be available to play against Boston on Tuesday. He hasn't earned a point in five appearances this season, but he has posted three shots on net, two blocked shots and 16 hits.

  • John Tavares C | TOR

Maple Leafs' John Tavares: Back with team

Tavares (personal) participated in Monday's practice, per David Alter of The Hockey News.

After missing Saturday's 6-3 win over Colorado for personal reasons, Tavares should return to the lineup against Utah on Tuesday. He has registered one goal, two assists, 14 shots on net, four blocked shots and three hits in five appearances this season.

  • Ducks' Cutter Gauthier: Participates in drills at practice

Gauthier (upper body) participated in drills to begin Monday's practice session but left before line rushes and team drills, Zach Cavanagh of The Sporting Tribune reports.

Gauthier exited Saturday's game against the Flames in the first period due to an upper-body injury, and it's not yet clear whether the issue will impact his availability for Tuesday's rematch against Calgary. It was encouraging to see him do some work at practice Monday, though a better idea of his status for Tuesday's game could be revealed based on his participation in the team's morning skate. If Gauthier is unavailable, A.J. Greer and Nikita Klepov are candidates to see increased roles.

  • Ducks' Ryan Poehling: Officially deemed day-to-day

Poehling (lower body) is day-to-day and missed practice Monday, Zach Cavanagh of The Sporting Tribune reports.

Poehling finally got on the scoresheet against the Flames on Saturday, notching one goal and one assist before being forced to leave the game due to his lower-body injury. If the 27-year-old center can't play against the Flames on Tuesday, A.J. Greer will likely take on a third-line role. Once cleared to play, Poehling should slot back into a spot in the bottom six.

  • Colin Ralph D | STL

Blues' Colin Ralph: Summoned from AHL

Ralph was recalled from AHL Springfield on Monday, per PuckPedia.

Ralph hasn't earned a point in four minor-league appearances this season. The 21-year-old defender won't join St. Louis for the team's upcoming three-game road trip, which begins against Ottawa on Tuesday, according to Matthew DeFranks of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Ralph is with the Blues temporarily for salary cap purposes.
