Penguins' Tomas Galvas: Signs entry-level deal
Galvas signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Penguins on Thursday.
Galvas went unselected in two drafts before being chosen 54th overall by the Penguins in the 2026 NHL Draft. He's signed with Czech club Liberec through the 2027-28 campaign but has the tools to make an impact once he's in the mix to make his NHL debut. Across 32 regular-season appearances with Liberec last year, he recorded eight goals, 16 assists and 10 PIM.

Penguins' David Gustafsson: Lands one-year contract
Gustafsson signed a one-year, $850,000 contract with the Penguins on Sunday.
Gustafsson was dealt to Pittsburgh from Winnipeg on Monday in exchange for Jack St. Ivany. The 26-year-old Gustafsson didn't appear in a game with the Jets in 2025-26, so he will probably begin the 2026-27 campaign with AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. He has 149 regular-season games of NHL experience, though, so he should be a call-up candidate if he winds up starting the year in the minors.

Penguins' Joel Blomqvist: Pens two-year contract
Blomqvist landed a two-year, $1.75 million contract with Pittsburgh on Sunday.
Blomqvist didn't play in a game with Pittsburgh this past season, but he performed well with AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, going 16-5-4 with a .913 save percentage and a 2.40 GAA over 26 outings. The 24-year-old is the No. 3 goaltender on the Penguins' organizational depth chart, so he may not see much time with the big club in 2026-27 on the condition that Arturs Silovs and Sergei Murashov are healthy.

Penguins' Arturs Silovs: Agrees to short-term deal
Silovs agreed to terms on a one-year, $2.8 million contract with the Penguins on Sunday.
Silovs made 39 appearances in his first year with the Penguins in 2025-26, posting a 19-12-8 record, 3.07 GAA and .887 save percentage. The Latvian netminder will certainly have to prove himself in 2026-27 to earn a longer contract next year, which might be difficult if Silovs can't command more playing time than Sergei Murashov and Joel Blomqvist, the latter of whom the Penguins signed to a two-year contract Sunday.

Penguins' Egor Chinakhov: Gets three-year deal
Chinakhov inked a three-year, $18.75 million contract with the Penguins on Sunday.
Chinakhov was acquired by Pittsburgh from Columbus in December, which led to him getting a much bigger role with his new team. The Russian winger set new high-water marks in goals (21), assists (21), shots (140) and games played (72) during the 2025-26 regular season between the two teams. While Chinakhov didn't record a point in the 2026 playoffs, he had a strong end to the regular season, generating eight goals and 22 points over the final 18 games, so he has sleeper appeal heading into this coming season as a top-six player in Pittsburgh.

Penguins' Hendrix Lapierre: Inks two-year contract
Lapierre signed a two-year, $2.6 million contract with the Penguins on Friday.
Lapierre produced 16 points over 74 appearances with the Capitals in 2025-26. He was dealt to the Penguins on June 25 as the Capitals needed to shed commitments following their aggressive retooling prior to the draft. The 24-year-old forward will be in contention for bottom-six minutes in 2026-27, but he may not play on an everyday basis.

Penguins' Alexander Alexeyev: Signs overseas
Alexeyev signed a two-year contract with KHL club Salavat Yulaev on Thursday, Seth Rorabaugh of Tribune-Review Sports reports.
Alexeyev was given a qualifying offer by the Penguins, so the team will retain his NHL rights while he is playing in Russia. The 26-year-old blueliner saw action in 38 regular-season games with AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton last year, generating three goals and nine assists, but he never logged an appearance with Pittsburgh.

Penguins' Atley Calvert: Secures entry-level deal
Calvert signed a two-year, entry-level contract with Pittsburgh on Wednesday.
Calvert went undrafted coming out of the WHL, but he spent the last two seasons in the Penguins' minor-league system. In 2025-26, the 22-year-old center racked up 16 goals and 22 helpers in 70 regular-season games for AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton before adding another six points in 15 playoff contests. If he can show that scoring touch during training camp, Calvert could be a dark horse candidate to make the Opening Night roster.

Penguins' Trevor van Riemsdyk: Gets two-year contract
Van Riemsdyk signed a two-year, $8 million contract with the Penguins on Wednesday.
Van Riemsdyk had three goals, 14 points, 18 PIM, 12 hits and 97 blocks in 68 regular-season appearances with Washington in 2025-26. The 34-year-old is likely to open 2026-27 as part of the Penguins' third pairing. Declan Carlile, who also joined the Penguins on Wednesday after inking a two-year, $3 million deal, might end up as the seventh defenseman on the depth chart as a result of van Riemsdyk's signing.

Penguins' Andrei Kuzmenko: Headed for Steel City
Kuzmenko signed a one-year, $5 million contract with Pittsburgh on Wednesday, Pierre LeBrun of TSN reports.
Kuzmenko's deal is pretty much the Kyle Dubas standard at this point -- a one-year deal that won't impact the team long term and could have value at the trade deadline. The 30-year-old winger logged 52 regular-season games with the Kings last year, producing 13 goals, including eight with the man advantage. He could find himself paired up with fellow Russian Evgeni Malkin on the second line, though Kuzmenko's hold on that potential spot could be tenuous at best.

Penguins' Declan Carlile: Inks two-year pact
Carlile put pen to paper on a two-year, $3 million contract with Pittsburgh on Wednesday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.
Carlile played in just 42 regular-season games for the Lightning in 2025-26, producing one goal, two assists, 51 hits and 38 blocks. The Penguins certainly aren't bringing the 26-year-old blueliner into the lineup for his offensive upside, and neither should fantasy managers.

Penguins' Nicholas Robertson: Getting fresh start
Robertson was acquired by Pittsburgh from Toronto on Wednesday in exchange for a fourth-round pick, per Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet.
Robertson set career highs in 2025-26 with 16 goals and 32 points in 78 outings with the Maple Leafs. The 24-year-old has offensive potential beyond what last season's numbers imply, and there have been stretches where he's been extremely effective. However, consistency has been a problem for Robertson, and he was never able to cement himself as a top-six forward with Toronto. A fresh start is probably what's in his best interests, but it wouldn't be surprising if he similarly struggles to maintain a top-six job with the Penguins in 2026-27.

Penguins' Kaedan Korczak: Swapped in one-for-one deal
Korczak was traded to the Penguins from the Golden Knights on Tuesday in exchange for Parker Wotherspoon.
Korczak is three years younger than Wotherspoon but carries a significantly higher cap hit ($3.25 million), especially with the Pens retaining half of Wotherspoon's contract. Perhaps more importantly, the 25-year-old Korczak is a right-handed defenseman, which gives Pittsburgh some cover on that side behind Erik Karlsson and Kris Letang.

Penguins' David Gustafsson: Dealt to Steel City
Pittsburgh acquired Gustafsson from Winnipeg on Monday in exchange for Jack St. Ivany.
During the 2025-26 campaign with AHL Manitoba, Gustafsson earned 10 goals and 32 points in 48 regular-season games before providing one goal and three helpers in seven playoff outings. The 26-year-old forward has six goals and 20 points in 149 NHL regular-season appearances. Gustafsson is a restricted free agent this offseason, and he is eligible to file for arbitration.

Penguins' Pierce Mbuyi: OHL Rookie of Year joins Pens
Mbuyi was the 86th overall pick by Pittsburgh in the 2026 NHL Entry Draft on Saturday.
Mbuyi led all first-year players in scoring in 2024-25 with 52 points in 63 regular-season games, being named OHL Rookie of the Year in the process. He was even better in 2025-26, finishing with 32 goals and 75 points in 68 regular-season games for Owen Sound. Mbuyi has all the skills you look for in an offensive weapon, from speed to battle level to the ability to shoot the puck, but he's 5-foot-11 and 160 pounds. It takes a specialized skill set to contribute at the NHL level at that size. The hope for both Mbuyi and the Pens is that he can bulk up upon arriving at Penn State in the fall while maintaining the traits that make him a dynamic player. Pittsburgh fans shouldn't worry if Mbuyi struggles in his freshman collegiate campaign. It's going to be a process.

Penguins' Tomas Galvas: Finally selected in third draft
Galvas was the 54th overall pick by Pittsburgh in the 2026 NHL Entry Draft on Saturday.
A February 2006 birthday, Galvas had gone through the previous two drafts without being selected. It's nearly impossible to believe, given his play in recent years, both in the top Czech league and on the international circuit, most notably at the World Juniors. Galvas was named to the WJC All-Star Team in the most recent tournament after posting nine points in seven games to help Czechia win the Silver Medal. Galvas is undersized at 5-foot-10 and 170 pounds, but his hockey sense is exceptional, and his skating is well above average. Currently signed with Liberec through 2027-28, Galvas should be a candidate for depth NHL minutes immediately upon his arrival in North America.

Penguins' Markus Ruck: Joins twin brother in Steel City
Ruck was the 39th overall pick by Pittsburgh in the 2026 NHL Entry Draft on Saturday.
It's a happy reunion for the Ruck family in Pittsburgh. Playing alongside his twin brother Liam, who was the No. 22 overall pick by the Penguins, for Medicine Hat, Markus led the WHL in both assists (87) and points (108) in 68 games this past season. Gavin McKenna's move to Penn State opened up a ton of minutes for the Tigers, and Ruck took full advantage. More of a playmaker than finisher, Ruck is probably a long-term center, but that's not a guarantee given his inconsistencies in the faceoff circle. As the assist numbers would suggest, Markus is very good in open space and an asset with the man advantage. Betting on a forward that is a shade under 6-foot and just 170 pounds is risky business, but Ruck is defensively responsible and can kill penalties, so that helps raise his floor some. The Ruck twins are 2027-28 commits to the University of North Dakota.

Penguins' Liam Ruck: Youngest twin drafted 22nd overall
Ruck was the 22nd overall pick by Pittsburgh in the 2026 NHL Entry Draft on Friday.
Liam and his twin brother Markus dominated the WHL this past season, with Markus leading the league in scoring and Liam finishing tied for second in both goals (45) and points (104 in 68 games). That was a massive increase for a kid who posted just 41 points in 61 regular-season appearances the year before. Liam is a bit stockier than Markus, and both are right around six-foot. His lack of size and breakaway speed are a concern, but Ruck has a rocket of a wrist shot and works his tail off. For a player this size to make it as an offensive threat at the NHL level, it's a necessity he has a high hockey IQ. Ruck most certainly brings that to the table.

Penguins' Hendrix Lapierre: Headed for Steel City
Lapierre was traded to the Penguins from the Capitals on Thursday in exchange for a 2027 third-round pick and a 2028 fifth-round pick.
Lapierre will be a restricted free agent July 1, and Washington already has over $50 million committed to its forward group, which doesn't include a new deal for Alex Ovechkin if he returns. Selected with the 22nd overall pick in the 2020 NHL Draft, the 24-year-old Lapierre will likely be viewed as a reclamation project for the Penguins, especially considering he managed just four goals and 12 assists in 74 regular-season games last year. Even with having to give the Quebec native a new contract this summer, it's likely a low-risk move for the Penguins to bet on Lapierre having a career resurgence with a change of venue.

Penguins' Taylor Gauthier: Lands two-way deal
Gauthier signed a one-year, two-way contract with Pittsburgh on Tuesday.
Gauthier posted a 21-9-5 record with a 2.09 GAA, a .929 save percentage and three shutouts in 36 regular-season appearances for ECHL Wheeling in 2025-26. He also went 9-8 with a 2.23 GAA and a .922 save percentage during the 2026 Kelly Cup Playoffs. The 25-year-old will probably spend most, if not all, of the 2026-27 campaign in the minors.
