Red Wings' Chase Stillman: Signs two-way contract
Stillman signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Red Wings on Saturday.
Stillman had three goals, nine points and 48 PIM in 24 regular-season appearances with AHL Abbotsford in 2025-26. Although the 23-year-old was selected with the No. 29 overall pick in the 2021 NHL Draft, Stillman has yet to play in the NHL and became an unrestricted free agent after Vancouver declined to present him with a qualifying offer. Stillman will probably start the 2026-27 campaign in the minors.

Red Wings' Keegan Kolesar: Dealt to Detroit
Kolesar was traded to the Red Wings from the Golden Knights on Wednesday in exchange for a 2029 third-round pick and a 2027 seventh-round pick, Darren Dreger of TSN reports.
Kolesar will be on his second NHL club after spending parts of the last seven seasons in Vegas. He is coming off a bit of a down year, in which he had six goals and 11 assists over 82 regular-season outings. He also had 270 hits, 55 PIM, 43 blocked shots and 67 shots on net last season. Expect him to occupy a fourth-line role with the Red Wings while bringing plenty of physicality.

Red Wings' Jacob Bryson: Gets one-year deal
Bryson signed a one-year, $850,000 contract with the Red Wings on Wednesday.
Bryson had two goals, eight points, 10 PIM, 14 hits and 29 blocks in 50 regular-season appearances between Buffalo and Winnipeg in 2025-26. Bryson is likely to spend a fair amount of 2026-27 as a healthy scratch, but he should also have games where he's plugged into a third-pairing spot.

Red Wings' Wilmer Skoog: Agrees to one-year contract
Skoog signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Red Wings on Wednesday.
Skoog had two assists, a plus-3 rating, four PIM, two hits and five blocks in three regular-season appearances with Florida in 2025-26. He also had 18 goals, 37 points and 51 PIM in 61 regular-season outings with AHL Charlotte last campaign. The 26-year-old will compete for a bottom-six spot with Detroit during training camp, but he'll probably begin 2026-27 in the AHL.

Red Wings' Daniil Tarasov: Signs with Wings
Tarasov inked a one-year, $2 million contract with Detroit on Wednesday, Pierre LeBrun of TSN reports.
Tarasov figures to serve as the No. 2 option behind John Gibson in 2026-27. With the Panthers last season, the 27-year-old Tarasov went 13-15-3 with a 3.05 GAA, but he was playing behind a roster decimated by injuries. It's unclear if Tarasov will get a similar workload this campaign, but he could see his fair share of starts if Gibson deals with inconsistency or injuries.

Red Wings' Cameron Butler: Inks one-year contract
Butler signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Red Wings on Wednesday.
During the 2025-26 regular season, Butler had a goal and 20 PIM in 16 outings with AHL Iowa, as well as nine goals, 20 points and 77 PIM in 30 appearances with ECHL Iowa. The 24-year-old will probably spend most, if not all, of the upcoming campaign in the minors.

Red Wings' Viktor Arvidsson: Inks two-year deal
Arvidsson (ribs) agreed to terms on a two-year, $10 million contract with Detroit on Wednesday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.
Arvidsson certainly cashed in on his 2025-26 campaign in which he generated 25 goals and 29 assists in 69 regular-season games for the Bruins. With his new club, the 33-year-old Swede could push for a top-six role, as well as see time on the power play. As such, Arvidsson should be capable of replicating his numbers from last year and offering solid top-half fantasy value.

Red Wings' Carter Mazur: Signs two-year contract
Mazur signed a two-year, $1.75 million contract with the Red Wings on Wednesday.
Mazur had no points, 10 hits and eight blocks in eight appearances with the Red Wings in 2025-26. He also had 11 goals and 16 points in 16 regular-season outings with AHL Grand Rapids. Mazur didn't receive a qualifying offer from Detroit, so he was eligible to sign anywhere, but he opted to remain in the organization. He'll compete for a roster spot with Detroit during training camp, but it will be an uphill battle.

Red Wings' Beckham Edwards: Depth option for Red Wings
Edwards was the 143nd overall pick by Detroit in the 2026 NHL Entry Draft on Saturday.
Scouts were expecting Edwards would take a step forward offensively in his second OHL campaign, and they didn't get their wish. He finished with 19 goals and 45 points in 64 games for Sarnia, nearly identical to his 25-goal, 45-point (in 62 games) rookie campaign. Edwards probably has more natural ability than those numbers lead you to believe, but he's struggled with consistency and there's been nothing thus far to suggest he has top-six potential at the NHL level. He looks like a versatile depth piece. The more promising news is that he's a 2027 commit to a school in Notre Dame that has excelled at developing those types of players in recent years.

Red Wings' Michal Orsulak: Huge goalie nabbed by Detroit
Orsulak was the 79th overall pick by Detroit in the 2026 NHL Entry Draft on Saturday.
Eligible for the 2025 NHL Draft by just a handful of weeks, Orsulak went unselected. He played in North America in 2025-26, joining a Prince Albert team that had the best record in the WHL's Eastern Conference. Orsulak was a major reason behind the team's success. He went 28-4-4, with a 2.22 GAA and .907 save percentage. He was also better at the World Juniors than his numbers (3.19 GAA, .874 save percentage) would lead you to believe. Orsulak stands 6-foot-4 and weighs 225 pounds. He takes up a ton of the net and relies on positioning. He should once again return as the starter for both Prince Albert and the Czechs. Orsulak was the No. 2-ranked North American goalie by NHL Central Scouting.

Red Wings' Victor Plante: Joins brother in Detroit system
Plante was the 47th overall pick by Detroit in the 2026 NHL Entry Draft on Saturday.
Plante has seen his stock rise in recent months, partly because of his work for the USNTDP and partly because his older brother Max -- also a Detroit selection -- won the Hobey Baker Award as college hockey's best player this past season. At 5-foot-10 and roughly 160 pounds, the younger Plante lacks ideal size for the NHL, but like his brother, he's constantly around the puck, always making plays. To say Victor has the same set of hands as Max would be a stretch, but they do share a similar work ethic. Max, who was a 2024 second-round pick of the Red Wings, turned down the chance to turn pro this coming season, so the two brothers could spend a year playing together at the University of Minnesota-Duluth.

Red Wings' J.P. Hurlbert: Texas Tornado drafted 23rd overall
Hurlbert was the 23rd overall pick by Detroit in the 2026 NHL Entry Draft on Friday.
Hurlbert finished fourth in the WHL in scoring with 42 goals and 97 points in just 68 regular-season games in 2025-26. His skills absolutely pop -- his shot is a rocket, and he's creative with the puck. He popped off 294 shots last season, which put him second in his league. But Hurlbert's 6-foot size and average compete means he was pushed outside too often. And while he played both center and wing, he didn't perform well at the dot, so NHL Central Scouting moved his position to wing. Hurlbert plays a junior-style skill game, so it remains to be seen if he has the athleticism to evolve to a pro-style game. He's headed to the University of Michigan's program for 2026-27 to grow his game.

Red Wings' William Wallinder: Signs two-year deal
Wallinder inked a two-year, two-way contract with Detroit on Thursday.
Wallinder is coming off his third straight campaign with AHL Grand Rapids, having notched two goals and 18 helpers in 66 regular-season games with the Griffins. Selected by the organization with the 32nd overall pick in the 2020 NHL Draft, Wallinder is never going to produce at Moritz Seider levels, but he could be in line to make his NHL debut this year.

Red Wings' Theo Rochette: Pens ELC with Detroit
Rochette signed a one-year, entry-level contract with the Red Wings on Sunday.
Rochette, a left-shot center, has played the last three seasons with HC Lausanne in the Swiss National League. The 24-year-old finished under a point per game in all three of those years, and he has never played in the NHL, so he'll likely spend the entirety of the 2026-27 campaign with AHL Grand Rapids. Rochette was never drafted by an NHL club.
