Red Wings' William Wallinder: Signs two-year deal
Wallinder inked a two-year, two-way contract with Detroit on Thursday.
Wallinder is coming off his third straight campaign with AHL Grand Rapids, having notched two goals and 18 helpers in 66 regular-season games with the Griffins. Selected by the organization with the 32nd overall pick in the 2020 NHL Draft, Wallinder is never going to produce at Moritz Seider levels, but he could be in line to make his NHL debut this year.

Red Wings' William Wallinder: Sent down Monday
Wallinder was assigned to AHL Grand Rapids on Monday.
Wallinder was recalled ahead of Monday's game against St. Louis, but he was merely an insurance policy as Ben Chiarot didn't play due to an upper-body injury. Wallinder is being given time to develop at the AHL level, but he could compete for a full-time role on Detroit's back end in 2025-26.

Red Wings' William Wallinder: Recalled by Detroit
Wallinder was recalled from AHL Grand Rapids on Monday.
Wallinder was drafted by the Red Wings with the 32nd overall pick in 2020, but he hasn't yet made his NHL debut. However, he'll join the Red Wings after Simon Edvinsson (upper body) was placed on injured reserve Monday. Wallinder will presumably serve as an extra defenseman and seems unlikely to have much of a role if he sees any game action.
