  • Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Collects overtime win

Andersen stopped 23 of 26 shots in Thursday's 4-3 overtime win over the Golden Knights in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals.

Andersen and the Hurricanes looked to be in trouble when they trailed 2-0 after two periods. The Hurricanes responded with three goals in a 5:05 span during the third, though Mark Stone was able to answer to force overtime, where Seth Jarvis won it for Carolina. Andersen has allowed eight goals on 49 shots over the first two games of this series as the Golden Knights look to be the toughest test the Hurricanes have seen in the playoffs. It won't get any easier as the series shifts to Vegas for the next two contests. Andersen is 13-2 with a 1.72 GAA and a .917 save percentage over 15 outings this postseason.

  • Golden Knights' Brayden McNabb: Goes to hospital

McNabb went to the hospital after taking a puck to the face during Thursday's Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals versus the Hurricanes, per the ESPN broadcast.

McNabb was hit by a slap shot in the first period and immediately left the ice. A trip to the hospital raises the level of concern regarding the injury, but the Golden Knights typically keep things close to the vest with updates. It's unclear at this time if McNabb will be able to suit up in Game 3 on Saturday.

  • Flyers' Jacob Gaucher: Extends for one year

Gaucher signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Flyers on Thursday, per PuckPedia.

Gaucher logged 20 goals and 36 points over 69 regular-season outings with AHL Lehigh Valley. He also made four appearances with the Flyers during the regular season, and he was up with the big club as part of the team's Black Aces during the postseason. The 25-year-old will likely be a depth option for 2026-27, though he may spend most of the campaign with the Phantoms.

  • Carter Hart G | LV

Golden Knights' Carter Hart: In goal for Game 2

Hart will protect the road goal versus the Hurricanes in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals on Thursday, Ryan Henkel of The Hockey News reports.

Hart was able to get away with less than his best in Game 1, stopping 25 of 29 shots in a 5-4 win. The 27-year-old netminder has won seven straight games, allowing 14 goals on 222 shots (.937 save percentage) in that span. Carolina has won all of its Game 2 matchups so far this postseason, a trend Hart will try to stop to give Vegas a massive advantage before heading home.

  • Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Slated to start Thursday

Andersen is slated to start in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals on Thursday.

Andersen will try to rebound after stopping just 18 of 23 shots in a 5-4 loss to Vegas on Tuesday. He's still having a fantastic playoff run overall with a 12-2 record, 1.65 GAA and .920 save percentage in 14 outings. Vegas has averaged an impressive 3.71 goals per game during the 2026 postseason.

  • Blues' Dylan Peterson: Secures one-year deal

Peterson inked a one-year, two-way contract with St. Louis on Thursday.

Peterson has yet to make his NHL debut after two full seasons playing for AHL Springfield. In 57 regular-season games for the Thunderbirds this year, the 24-year-old center notched 12 goals and 12 assists, adding two points in 10 postseason games. At this point, Peterson projects as a fringe roster player, at best, who will likely bounce between leagues even if he does get to make his NHL debut this year.

  • Zach Dean C | STL

Blues' Zach Dean: Staying in St. Louis organization

Dean signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Blues on Wednesday, per PuckPedia.

Dean was limited to 14 points in 36 regular-season outings with AHL Springfield in 2025-26 after spending time in the NHL/NHLPA Player Assistance Program. He will get a chance to play a full minor-league campaign after the expiration of his entry-level contract. His last NHL experience came in 2023-24 when he logged nine contests with the Blues.

  • Andrew Agozzino: Joining Swiss team

Agozzino inked a one-year contract with Swiss team EHC Biel-Bienne on Wednesday, Seth Rorabaugh of Tribune-Review Sports reports.

Agozzino spent the 2025-26 campaign under contract with Utah, appearing in just two games for the Mammoth in which he recorded four hits and one block while averaging 6:08 of ice time. The veteran winger was significantly more productive in the minors, producing 19 goals and 20 assists in 56 games for AHL Tucson. The 35-year-old has three goals and 12 points in 53 NHL regular-season games.

  • Mike Vecchione RW | WAS

    Mike Vecchione: Staying in KHL

Vecchione signed a one-year contract with Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod of the KHL on Wednesday, Mark Divver of the New England Hockey Journal reports.

Vecchione last appeared in the NHL in 2021-22, playing one game for Washington. At this point, the 33-year-old winger could finish his career playing overseas, though a return to the AHL at some point is a possibility. He had 19 goals and 46 points in 65 KHL games for Barys Astana in the 2025-26 regular season.

  • Hurricanes' Jalen Chatfield: Supplies two assists

Chatfield logged two assists, two hits, three blocked shots and two PIM in Tuesday's 5-4 loss to the Golden Knights in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals.

Chatfield has racked up five helpers over his last five contests. The shutdown defenseman doesn't always get significantly involved on offense, but he's done his part as the Hurricanes have worked deeper into the postseason. Overall, he's racked up a goal, six helpers, 24 shots on net, 22 blocked shots, 10 hits, 12 PIM and a plus-3 rating over 14 playoff outings in a top-four role.
