Scott Wedgewood G | COL
Avalanche's Scott Wedgewood: Strong showing to end preseason
Wedgewood made 33 saves in Saturday's 2-0 preseason loss to the Mammoth.
The Avalanche couldn't solve Karel Vejmelka in the other crease, but Wedgewood did what he could to keep his team in the game after allowing two first-period goals, one on the power play. Wedgewood will split the workload in the Colorado crease with Mackenzie Blackwood once again after posting a 31-6-6 record in 45 regular-season appearances last season with a 2.02 GAA and .921 save percentage.

Darcy Kuemper G | LA
Kings' Darcy Kuemper: Not busy in preseason win
Kuemper stopped 17 shots in Saturday's 6-2 preseason win over the Ducks.
Anaheim took a 2-1 lead late in the first period on a Beckett Sennecke power-play tally, but Kuemper shut the door from there as Los Angeles took control. The 36-year-old netminder is coming off a disappointing campaign, going 19-14-15 in 50 appearances with a 2.78 GAA and .891 save percentage, and Kuemper could cede more work to backup Anton Forsberg this season if he can't regain his prior form.
-
Lukas Dostal G | ANA
Ducks' Lukas Dostal: Struggles in preseason finale
Dostal made 14 saves in Saturday's 6-2 preseason loss to the Kings.
The Ducks actually held a 2-1 lead late in the first period, but Los Angeles scored five straight goals against Dostal to end the preseason on a sour note for the netminder. Dostal recorded a career-high 30 wins in the 2025-26 regular season, and he remains the clear No. 1 in the crease for an Anaheim team looking to take another step forward this season.

Colten Ellis G | BUF
Sabres' Colten Ellis: Opportunity could be knocking
Ellis stopped all six shots he faced after replacing Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen (lower body) in the third period of Saturday's 3-1 preseason loss to the Penguins.
The Sabres could be facing an early goaltending crisis. This is the second time this preseason Ellis has been needed in relief of an injured teammate, after Alex Lyon (upper body) left Thursday's contest. If the issues for Luukkonen and Lyon sideline them for any length of time, Ellis would get the start for Buffalo's opener Thursday against Columbus. In that scenario, Matt Villalta would be the most likely candidate to be recalled from AHL Rochester to back Ellis up.

Carter Hart G | LV
Golden Knights' Carter Hart: Slated to start Saturday
Hart is expected to start at home against San Jose in Saturday's preseason game, per Steve Carp of The Sporting Tribune.
Hart was strong in his first preseason start, stopping 28 of 29 shots in regulation in a 2-1 shootout victory over the Sharks on Tuesday. The 28-year-old helped Vegas reach the 2026 Stanley Cup Finals, posting a 14-8 record with a 2.56 GAA and a .907 save percentage in 22 postseason outings.
-
Arturs Silovs G | PIT
Penguins' Arturs Silovs: Sharp in preseason finale
Silovs stopped 23 shots in Saturday's 3-1 preseason win over the Sabres.
A Ryan McLeod power-play tally in the third period spoiled his shutout bid, but Silovs still ended his preseason on a high note. The 25-year-old netminder is coming off a solid first season with the Penguins, going 19-12-8 in 39 appearances with a 3.07 GAA and .887 save percentage, but he could face a stiff challenge from Sergei Murashov for the top spot on the depth chart.
-
Juuse Saros G | NSH
Predators' Juuse Saros: Tough afternoon to close preseason
Saros made 20 saves in Saturday's 6-0 preseason loss to the Hurricanes.
Half the goals against Saros came on power plays, as the Predators got thoroughly outclassed by the defending Stanley Cup champions. The 31-year-old netminder has won at least 20 games in six straight seasons, but he's coming off a 2025-26 campaign in which he posted a career-worst 3.16 GAA and an .894 save percentage.
-
Brandon Bussi G | CAR
Hurricanes' Brandon Bussi: Blanks Preds in preseason finale
Bussi stopped all 22 shots he faced in Saturday's 6-0 preseason win over Nashville.
Last season's breakout star in the crease for the Hurricanes wrapped up his preseason with an impressive three-period performance. He will split starts with Pyotr Kochetkov in 2026-27, but Bussi is the early favorite to handle the No. 1 role. Bussi posted a 2.47 GAA and won 31 games, including two via shutouts, in the 2025-26 regular season.

Jacob Fowler G | MON
Canadiens' Jacob Fowler: Starting at home
Fowler is set to start at home against Ottawa in Saturday's preseason game, per the NHL media site.
Fowler had a 9-6-2 record, 2.43 GAA and .908 save percentage in 17 regular-season appearances in 2025-26. Jakub Dobes is slated to begin the upcoming campaign as Montreal's No. 1 goaltender, while Fowler and Sam Montembeault might both make the team and pick up starts when Dobes needs a breather.

Samuel Ersson G | OTT
Senators' Samuel Ersson: Getting road start
Ersson is set to start on the road in Montreal for Saturday's preseason game, per the NHL media site.
Ersson had a 14-11-5 record, 3.12 GAA and .870 save percentage in 33 regular-season appearances with the Flyers in 2025-26. He's slated to start the upcoming campaign as Ottawa's No. 2 goaltender behind Linus Ullmark.
