Sabres' Rasmus Dahlin: Two-point effort Sunday
Dahlin produced a power-play goal and an even-strength assist Sunday during the Sabres' 6-2 loss to the Canadiens in Game 3 of their second-round series.
The Norris Trophy finalist recorded his first points of the series, helping to set up Tage Thompson for a first-period tally before snapping home his own late in the second. Dahlin has two goals and six points in nine games this postseason, and both goals have come with the man advantage.

Sabres' Tage Thompson: Two points in Game 3 loss
Thompson scored an even-strength goal and added a power-play assist Sunday during the Sabres' 6-2 loss to the Canadiens in Game 3 of their second-round series.
The star center opened the scoring just 53 seconds into the first period, but Montreal produced the next four goals to pull away, The points were the first of the series for Thompson, and through nine contests this postseason he's delivered three goals and nine points, including two power-play assists. Thompson may need to come up big in Game 4 on Tuesday if Buffalo is going to even the series.

Sabres' Alex Lyon: Gets little help in Game 3 loss
Lyon stopped 31 of 36 shots Sunday in the Sabres' 6-2 loss to the Canadiens in Game 3 of their second-round series. Montreal's final goal was scored into an empty net.
The veteran netminder came up with some big saves, but defensive breakdowns by Buffalo once again led to plenty of open looks and second chances for Montreal. Lyon has now given up nine goals on 63 shots over the last two games, both losses, and while he hasn't fully at fault for those results, coach Lindy Ruff may have to consider a switch in the crease for Game 4 on Tuesday.

Sabres' Alex Lyon: Starting in Montreal
Lyon will be between the road pipes in Game 3 against the Canadiens on Sunday, per Heather Engel of NHL.com.
Lyon has given up six goals on 55 shots (.891 save percentage) through the first two games of this second-round series. The Minnesota native had his worst outing of the postseason Friday, surrendering four goals on 27 shots in a 5-1 loss in Game 2. If Lyon and the Sabres drop Game 3, it's a possibility head coach Lindy Ruff turns back to Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen in goal to shake things up.

Sabres' Conor Timmins: Picks up helper in loss
Timmins logged an assist and four blocked shots in Friday's 5-1 loss to the Canadiens in Game 2.
Timmins has played in all eight postseason games, but this was his first point of the playoffs. He's added nine shots on net, 19 blocked shots, six hits and six PIM. Timmins fills a third-pairing role, though he could get rotated out of the lineup if head coach Lindy Ruff feels the need to make a change on defense.

Sabres' Zach Benson: Scores lone goal in loss
Benson scored a goal, added two PIM and doled out four hits in Friday's 5-1 loss to the Canadiens in Game 2.
Benson is rolling now with three goals and three assists over his last five outings, which is all of his scoring in the playoffs. The 20-year-old winger has made himself a key part of the Sabres' middle six and is also a regular on the power play. He's added some grit to his offense in the postseason, racking up 30 PIM, 13 hits, 13 shots on net and a plus-4 rating over eight playoff games.

Sabres' Sam Carrick: Available for Game 3
Carrick (arm) will be an option for Game 3 against Montreal on Sunday, Pierre LeBrun of TSN reports.
Carrick could replace Tyson Kozak, who skipped Saturday's practice for maintenance, in Sunday's lineup versus the Canadiens. The 34-year-old Carrick hasn't played since March 31 against the Islanders because of a left arm injury. He had nine goals, 16 points, 75 shots on net and 106 hits across 73 appearances between the Sabres and Rangers during the 2025-26 regular season.

Sabres' Alex Lyon: Shaky effort in Game 2 loss
Lyon stopped 23 of 27 shots Friday in the Sabres' 5-1 loss to the Canadiens in Game 2 of their second-round series, with Montreal's final goal getting scored into an empty net.
The 33-year-old goaltender faced several scoring chances due to careless defensive mistakes, but he also wasn't at his best in the contest. Lyon would probably like another crack at Mike Matheson's game-winner early in the first period, which was a long-range shot into the top corner. It was the first time this postseason that Lyon surrendered more than two goals in a contest, but it shouldn't cost him his starting job ahead of Game 3 in Montreal on Sunday. Through seven outings this postseason, he has a 1.73 GAA and .934 save percentage.

Sabres' Alex Lyon: Tending twine in Game 2
Lyon will protect the home goal versus the Canadiens in Game 2 on Friday, Heather Engel of NHL.com reports.
Lyon continued his strong play by stopping 26 of 28 shots to win the series opener. He hasn't allowed more than two goals in any of his five starts this postseason, a trend he'll look to keep going as the Sabres try to claim a 2-0 series lead.

Sabres' Sam Carrick: Sitting out Game 2
Carrick (arm) will not be in the lineup versus the Canadiens for Game 2 on Friday, Paul Hamilton of WGR Sports Radio 550 reports.
According to head coach Lindy Ruff, if the Sabres absolutely needed Carrick for a Game 7, the 34-year-old center could be an option. With the team up 1-0 in the series, it seems it will give the Ontario native an extra few days off. Given the update, fantasy managers could probably plan to see Carrick in the lineup for Game 3 on Sunday. Whenever he returns to action, it figures to be in a bottom-six role.
